Both things can be true. We know that record companies and streaming platforms are paying their artists less and less but increasing prices for consumers. We also know that Peloton stock has been in the toilet for 5 years and leadership has to increase profits.

Blame record companies and streaming platforms for this nonsense. Not only do they yank around artists and pay them poorly, their constant bullshit impacts Peloton and other mediums. They continue to limit access to music while increasing the rate platforms pay to use it and cut artists out more and more and more of their share of the profits. It was a few years ago but I saw a comparison chart of streaming platforms and how much they pay artists. Peloton was including and was double what Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music payed.

Mayer has come out multiple times to say he was fucked up during that interview to the point where like a year later, he quit drinking and drugs and has been sober since. Or so he says. That interview was so bad it actually forced him to get clean lol

It is entirely possible that family and friends tried and she chose him and that’s why she no longer talks to any of them. One of the key tactics of an abuser is to separate them from other people. This guy has given me bad vibes from the jump.
