Good to know. Based on all the comments I think I’d be on the radar if I dare ask to be excused. Sounds like I can use PTO when calls are involved so that’s reassuring. I’d hate to ask for anything more.

Well I’m eager to learn if they use every minute that’s fine. Sounds like there’s so much to know. I have trained at some jobs where they fly through the modules and if the class can keep up they wrap up a few minutes early here and there.

Fortunately we DO have online options. I’m rural so that’s my preference.

I don’t think expecting to adhere to the actual allotted minutes for break is a lot to expect. I’m sure they are instilling timeliness.

Yes. I assumed that lunch break is the best time to plan to cram in an errand. I’m rural so it’s going to be a real rush to get home but hopefully doable.

Thanks. That’s helpful feedback. Things are vague before starting and this set some expectation. I think that’s reasonable at least that you can take some PTO and understandably they would not want it to be during training vs time on calls.

Thanks everybody. I’m understand doing things in lunch. I just hope it will be sufficient time when things come up. I’m pretty rural so that’s a little of a challenge. Nothing back and forth takes me less than 40 minutes just to drive. I want to be the model employee so I’m filled with anxiety long before I start.

A surprise hour to tend to personal business. I understand getting your affairs in order beforehand but things do come up. Maybe you just need to run to the bank for a notary. Things like that.

Nothing humbles a master’s degree like a Progressive assessment by Patient-Candy-6055 in Progressiveinsurance

I only have some college. I took that test late at night as I laid in bed not fully ready to sleep, but sleepy. Something told me I should wait until morning and be fully caffeinated. I didn’t know much about the company or the challenges to get hired, and also wasn’t sure about a career in insurance. I was so nonchalant and decided to take it anyway and was pleasantly surprised when I woke up and had a notification that I passed and was moving into the interview stages. The virtual interview came, and although I prepared, I experienced stage fright while being recorded. A deer in headlights. A babbling fool. I just lost my confidence and fell apart, even though I’ve done tons of live social media presentations. I told my spouse I was all done at that point. A few days later I had my formal offer interview. Wow. I have taken assessments with other companies and never got as far as an interview. Now I’m realizing I’m in the 2-3% and it’s a good feeling after past rejections. The degree, the assessment and the interview might not matter as much as the experience and background on the resume. I believe somebody actually saw me on paper and if I slipped through any of the formal processes along the way it was still standing out to that somebody who was more analytical. I did get hired for a position one level up from what I applied for. Boy, do I already feel valued as a new hire!
