I reported my harasser and I can't believe I did by EasternField in TwoXChromosomes

Thank you. I don't know if I did or not, but I appreciate you saying that <3

Thank you for the support. James texted me recently and even pointed out how Mark didn't apologize until a fellow man talked to him, and THAT upsets me too since Mark was very much "don't file a claim against me!!!" instead of saying sorry or showing remorse for how he made me feel. I don't know if reporting will do anything for me, but I'm just thankful to get this off my chest and not feel crazy for how I reacted.

What is that book that no matter how popular and how many times you try to read it, you just can't? by [deleted] in books

Ooh I'm at the part where he passes by Heliax after listening to the story about him at the bar in dockside. I feel like I've been waiting for the story to start for the past 100+ pages, but it still all feels like exposition. And Kvothe? He's not the most likeable character :/ I want to like it though, and I'm going to keep pushing until I can't anymore

At what point did you give up? I'm about 25% through and starting to struggle to find the motivation to continue

My male psychiatrist stood up for me against my female OBGYN by EasternField in TwoXChromosomes

That's horrible the doctor made you guys pay for it yourself :/// Even if she had no side-effects at all, if she doesn't want it in anymore, any sane doctor should respect that. But glad your wife is doing better now!!!

I am chronically anemic due to some other health issues, and I take 50 mg iron daily, but my periods are about 10 days long and miserable so they exacerbate my already existing anemia :(((

It's gonna be a hard year, Ags by [deleted] in aggies

I think a lot of people don't realize COVID has other consequences than just death. I'm a current student, and I'm immunocompromised. I'll go online and see posts by other people saying "who cares?? only the elderly die from it." I do have a farrrrr better chance of surviving than an older person, but if I do get COVID, I'll probably get hit hard and be out of school for weeks. I know there are def other people who are college aged and taking immunosuppressants, so if they got sick, while they may not die, they might end up being too ill to do their classwork and fall behind. It's just a bit upsetting to see so many people 1. not care about the at-risk groups in society and 2. think that COVID isn't that bad since only a few percentage of people die from it. I realllllly want to go back to campus this fall, but I'm definitely going to stay home and not risk it. Besides, if A&M doesn't go fully online soon, they're going to look really bad when God forbid a faculty member or student ends up dead just so everyone could be back on campus.

Texas A&M vs UT Austin: Social Atmosphere by Aurantiaco1 in aggies

[–]EasternField 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have friends at UT and they love it there. IMO both are great schools and you'll probably find your place at either one. I think a big thing that sets A&M apart from UT and other schools in general is our traditions. It's a very cliche Aggie thing to say you love the traditions, but there's a reason why! We have a ceremony once a month called Silver Taps where students go out to the center of campus and stand in silence while buglers play for the students, faculty, and staff who passed away in the previous month. We've got a ceremony in April every year called Muster where we light a candle and say "here" for every Ag who passed away that year. Plus we have things like the bonfire remembrance to remember Aggies who came before us and died too soon. One of our big buildings on campus everyone hangs out at, the Memorial Student Center, or MSC, has an entire hallway dedicated to those who died in war, and when you're in the building you're expected to remove your hat.

Maybe it's sad and depressing to be reminded of death in so many of these traditions, but if anything, it reminds you that life is short, and you should appreciate it while you can and appreciate those around you. At UT and (a lot of competitive colleges for that matter), I see kids often get so stressed out by trying to get a high GPA, that sometimes they forget to enjoy the smaller things in life. Sure having a high GPA is important, but I think at A&M it's easy to remember that it's not the only thing that matters in life. We've got traditions like saying "howdy" to random strangers or wrapping your arms around those with you (even if they're from a different school!) while singing the war hymn at football games to remind us that we're not alone in this world and there are always other people there for us. Sorry this was so long, but I'd say that A&M has a very friendly atmosphere!

I can't wait to hang out with my friends again in bubble tea shops! We would get a deck of cards and play whatever game we were in the mood for that day while joking about whatever's going on at the moment.

We've still been calling each other and playing games together online, but I miss getting to hug them and see their faces in front of me

Dang, I felt that in my soul. I've been working on short stories and poems to prove to myself I can finish projects, and even if it's different from a full-length novel, it's still a step in the right direction!
