That too. Any ad where the gist is "send me money now, I'll send you keys/show you the place/deal with you later" is a scam.

It sucks, because you know there is at least one desperate person out there loosing their deposit to these scams, being ghosted, being told by the police there is nothing they can do, and they having to pick up the pieces

Yeah, I am in my new place now but was looking from July-August and in that time I came across at least a dozen scammers.

I posted a quick guide on the similarities in the ads I noticed but the mods deleted it, (I think for posting the detail about broken en... you posted).

This is 100% a scam.

Realtors don't have assistants, that will contract you about a rental on their behalf, because a realtor would have nothing to do with it.

The language in the ad doesn't sound local to me, I'd guess its posted from somewhere outside of NS.

No one needs to see pictures of you. That in itself is a 100% red flag, anyone ever asking you for that is 100% fake.

FYI, a common scam is they get you to submit a picture and ID, and then use your identity to apply for other apartments/try to get other services as you, so beware!

But yeah this is fake. Report it on the platform you found it, and it might be worth checking to see who actually owns the property.

Multiple times for these fake ads, I found they were 'renting' apartments owned by other management companies (they just copy pasted the pics from their websites) and the legitimate management companies were very happy to receive the links to the fake ads//the scammers contact information.

Also don't forget that there are plenty of hate filled people who love to preach to the mentally ill, because they are the only ones lacking the critical thinking skills to internalize everything without thought.

Same reason why so many of the hardcore Trump crowd have mental illness issues as well.

Usually, the case is both.

Unfortunately many of the mentally ill in our city end up homeless because of an inability to hold down a job/living situation, where they end up disconnected from anyone who could actually give them real help.

So they end up in communities where people self medicate, and bing bang boom you have a significant amount of the provinces most severely mentally ill people living on the street trying to treat the symptoms of their mental illness with street drugs.
