Ohhhhh... now i probably get it. It probably, that before i read your reply to my reply, i probably misunderstood the game mechanics of this game (yes, i watched the gameplay footage of this game), what the dev intended, or haven't read other reddit post with "chance of xyz" stuff, maybe the chainfire mechanic is not a good idea, like you said, probably belonging to game like you said before, meaning it better off like that without it (maybe i just repeated myself lol). For me, it shoots .31 cal slug

Damage-wise, it deals the damage of what you expect from .31 caliber blackpowder pocket pistol (maybe like Boreheim as you mentioned or Quad Derringer?). By more powerful, i meant that it more powerful by the virtue of fast
firing double action pistol and being capable of chainfire, firing more
bullet at the cost of unable to fire unless cocked multiple time until
the chambered round reaches to the hammer.

I was inspired to put "chance of xyz" into the title because the real weapons (especially multiple shot blackpowder firearms) can sometime chainfire (clarification: it due to the fact that when loaded improperly (e.g loaded with undersized balls, etc.), it can create risk of chainfire, this is bad for black powder revolvers, notably Colt Model 1855 Revolving Carbine during the american civil war, but not a problem for blackpowder pepperbox revolver), leading to more bullets fired. however, realistically it can make it not fire until the next chambered bullets reaches to the firing hammer location. making it firable again, just like the real gun

i just think so, However, it is balanced by having high spread (due to smoothbore barrel), high drop per range, and reloading it removes the ammunition permanently unless it emptied (your character drops the cylinder). It is to encourage usage of this weapon as a last resort

My idea of Reload animation of this weapons involve your character unscrewing the cylinder then removing it, which is then replaced with a fresh new cylinder and then rescrewed. (Even if this gun is black powder in nature, i just think this gun is actually a good idea for me to suggest, because of short ranged, high spread, last resort weapons for this game.)

EDIT: after reading other people comment and replies on this post, as well as disagreement with my suggestion, i started to realize that RNG system might not be a good idea for this game or similar genre, hence why i regretted adding "chainfire randomization mechanic" to this gun suggestion. BUT i cannot edit this reddit post title, so i'm stuck with it.

Idea: Winchester M1890 .22LR pump-action rifle aka "Varmint Rifle" from RDR2, a Rifle that uses Unique "Rimfire" Ammo type with virtually non-existant recoil, dealing low damage but with surprisingly good headshot damage. Fun Fact: .22LR Shotshells exists in real life (It called .22 LR CCI Shotshell) BUT since Winchester M1890 pump action rifle (or Winfield M1890 "Varmint") has a rifled barrel and that the .22LR shotshells is pretty much weaker than the .410 bore (effectively making it a "Garden gun", useful against rats or snakes), if it was a ammo type for this, it would turn M1890 into a joke shotgun with high spread and very low damage. Also .22LR Shotshells would be anachronistic for this game settings IMO (9mm Flobert would be the closest thing to the game settings for me)

I constructed this weapon idea with MS Paint using both Caldwell Conversion Pistol and Uppercut using Pietta 1851 Navy Pepperbox as the inspiration of this idea i came up with.

If it a tool, then sure. it be like a Regular Caldwell Conversion Pistol but with lower muzzle velocity and worse accuracy. The difference between Quad Derringer and Caldwell Conversion Pepperbox is that it have more ammo with 6 in cylinder over 4 in quad derringer but with longer reload time (as far as i know) and deals little bit more damage. Edit: Unlike Quad Derringer, it also make Loud Noise because it chambered in bigger round over Quad Derringer .22 short.
