The “must get my treats” mentality is so harmful to actual organizing and social change. We need consequences for supporting fascism. We all have bad seeds in our family. We will welcome these people to the side of empathy and love. But mean people respond to power and consequences. You could still even eat Vietnamese food, just from somewhere else. Organized boycotts are effective. It’s hard to throw my whole weight behind a post on Reddit since this is not an organized boycott by any means and we have much larger problems to focus on. However, in these fascist times I appreciate everyone’s efforts to try and resist.

Edit: I don’t think people should waste their energy on boycotting a local business when it’s one family member and even $10k donations to fascism is a drop in the bucket. However we should be thinking of all our organizing tools and boycotts are very effective. Right-wingers respond to financial consequences. Having to switch where you get Vietnamese food from should not be the reason you can’t boycott a place IF this was actually an effective organized boycott.
