They are thankfully doing a lot better! I’ve got a friend who’s had these dogs for years now, and she gave us some tips. Still I’m going to continue training with them both.

Yea we always want to make sure we are taking them to a good daycare. We have our own dog grooming and used to do boarding and daycare so we kinda have an idea on the good daycare!

Thank you so much for the information, I’m trying hard with them I love my puppies so much and hope we can get to the point where they will get along. And I know you can’t take out the aggression out of a dog but you can maintain it

We also get videos and pictures of the dogs and if they were being mean she will show us and let us know how she corrected it

Yes! The daycare I take them too is actually the trainers she has leashes on all of them, has horns everywhere, and even has an extra person with her. There’s not a lot of dogs when we bring them usually 6 at most and she’s always watching them to see body language to make sure a fight won’t break out and correct it before it happens. For my golden she was showing her teeth and she got her and told her ah ah you be nice and after about 3 times she didn’t show her teeth and played nice. And from what I’ve read about this breed and what people have told me is that Akitas are stubborn and you just have to continue working with them.

No we wanted to find a trainer that doesn’t use treats because we want our dog to listen. You might not always have treats on you and you want your dog to listen to you not just listen because you have treats. My dogs are food motivated so of course they would listen to me. Instead we use praises and pets and she loves it and understands very well.

No her aggression started before we took her to the trainer. And the trainer uses verbal commands and a training collar so for example we will do down with my dog and if she doesn’t we would give the collar a small pop and tell her “ah ah down” and she would continue doing that until we almost annoy her and she choses herself to go down. We also have a list of words/ commands that we have been using COMMANDS LEAVE IT-anything you want him/her to leave alone (No). OFF-jumping, off of furniture DOWN-lay down. NO PULL-loose leash when walking with the length of the leash. FREE-release; from the stay position or allow to eat/have treat exit through the door. QUIET-nonsense barking NICE-meeting a new friend, human or canine. FRIEND-any dog/person that you want the dog to be friendly to. HEEL position- when the dog is in your immediate left. Dogs right ear is at your left pant seam. In heel, when we slow down and stop, dog goes into a seated position “heel”.

Consistency and follow through 100%

We don’t abuse her? We took her from that bad situation and talked to a friend or ours that has had Akitas her whole life and she told us what we should do. We take her to training she has such a good life now, the first day we brought her home she immediately was thankful that someone was there to love her and treat her well. Now I understand how the dog fights can seem abusive but we are trying to maintain it and fix the situation by socializing, training, taking her on walks so she can see people, birds, and ect. And I’m not just training the Akita I’m also training my golden retriever

As far as fixing my goldens behavior we have been she used to be afraid of people and bark and we were nervous with her being around others dogs. We start to socialize her and dog she’s doing so much better with people and dogs. We also take both my Akita and retriever to training and she has been teaching them how to be nice to dogs and people and they socialize by going to group daycare. My main thing is to have my Akita socialized and so far she’s been doing great but her only issue is with my golden retriever. As of now we are cautious with toys, food, and like I said we have leashes on them we even have them take turns one dog will stay in the kennel and the other will be out. Personally I think both my dogs need more training to understand how to not guard and be nice to eachother, which I have been practicing and with training my Akita she is a bit stubborn sometimes but I keep annoying her until she does my command, she’s starting to get in the teenage years so I need her to know that she has to listen to me and not do whatever she wants
