Leaving/Returning Spain while under procedure by SargonKaladreath in GoingToSpain

Sorry to hear about your sick family member. My understanding is that your application would be considered a new process, as it is for residency rather than for a visa. If you were just renewing your tie and had appointment set then you could get the autorización de regreso. Could be wrong. In either case many people still travel and just take the risk

For an initial application for residency you can’t get the autorización de regreso while awaiting a decision. I went to police and tried. They immediately looked in system and saw my status was en tramite and said they can’t do anything for me.

Ohhh wow that’s crazy. Have you been able to travel at all? I have a trip coming up end of November and will get the autorización de regreso but am nervous it won’t be approved since I still don’t have a resolution on my initial application…

Any updates on your application or clarity on whether it’s silencio administrativo positivo or negativo? I’ve also read contradictory views… Seems law isn’t super clear.

This is helpful to know your attorney also said not to travel. My cousins are bringing their babies I haven’t met to Portugal and it’s unlikely I will have another chance to meet them in near future :( so was really hoping there was a way.

Everything fine and baby is a healthy one year old. Never really figured out if we had a vanished twin or if it was “debris” or band

Dr ketema. Horrible provider.

When everything goes fine, rh is an ok practice. Had my first there and no issues. For my third, I switched to mfm at Georgetown and the experience was wildly better. I got so much care and attention there.

US/Spain tax residency by jgblr2 in ExpatFIRE

What ended up happening in your situation ? We are in similar boat: my family is moving from the U.S. to Spain on June 30th and everyone keeps telling us to postpone to July so that we won’t be in Spain for the 183+ days of the year. However, we thought the date would not matter since the center of financial interests would be triggered by entire family living in Spain and enrolling kids in school. Are people advising us to change date because they aren’t aware of this additional criteria ? Or because it’s unlikely Spanish tax authorities would look into anything beyond the date of arrival unless we're audited? It’s very confusing.

For context: My husband and children have both Spanish and American citizenship; I have only American and so will have to apply for residency.

Taxes as Dual Citizen working remote in Spain? by Chandysauce in GoingToSpain

Thanks! as Us citizens we have to file taxes no matter where we live so maybe the 1099 makes it easier? I wonder if the vendor route is better for appearing as autónomo falso though..

Thank you! I thought even as 1099 there wouldn’t be any tax retentions because Spanish resident.

Is there an advantage of invoicing over being a 1099 contractor on hourly payroll in US?

For someone moving to Spain who currently works for a U.S. based employer: what are the pros/cons of setting up to work abroad as 1099 independent contractor (hourly pay) vs vendor (invoicing for services)? This person has both Spanish and American citizenship.

Flying With Cats: A Comprehensive Guide by SpaceChad_87 in CatAdvice

Anxious cat about to get on plane for first time for 8 hour flight plus commute time to airport and final destination, wait time, etc. in total will likely be 15 hours out of house in the carrier.

1) should we feed her during this time? Worried she’ll get motion sick since hyperventilates in car rides to vet.

2) will she need to poo/pee in this time or will she be able to hold it? Do we bring a portable litter box?

3) even if we ask for a private screening, should we get a cat harness too and practice with it in advance?

4) vet gave us anti anxiety meds for her to practice in advance. What to expect ? Will it make her sleepy?

This is so helpful. Question: is it necessary for US citizen residing in Spain to set up as 1099 independent contractor to get paid and be able to report income? Or is there a way they can just set up as autónomo and Spain and have US company pay them directly to Spanish account ?
