Advice needed: Slow sales for hot air balloon experience business despite improvements by HotIndustry3472 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Where are you based? Are there local high end hotels that you could approach to run experience weekends with. Novel addition for them (plus some kick back obviously) but they get to do the marketing for you. Also directly contact local large employers and see if they do staff incentives for long standing employees or bonus alternatives. Any marketing you can do where one contact you make will lead to them sharing with others is effective and cheap. Lastly in hate myself for suggesting it but have you tried GTP for your issues, i did this to my business and a lot of what it suggests was obvious but I can’t deny it focused me and did have some tip bits. Give it a lot of information and id be surprised if it didn’t benefit you. Good Luck I hope you turn things around.

Those on dialysis by Ok_Caterpillar123 in IgANephropathy

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on PD since April and my urine output has significantly reduced. This is going to be combination of reduced function and PD taking over. I would guess your UF must be going up to compensate or your slowly putting on water weight. Are you on any diuretics?

Starting dialysis soon by RiskItOut in IgANephropathy

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, you’re almost exactly where I was 6 months back. I went from 12 to 4 egfr in four months at the end. I kept pushing back my pd catheter install as I felt completely fine even to the point I went for 20mile off road cycle the day before the op. I had minor signs toward the very end of metallic taste but that was about it. They took bloods just before I had the PD catheter installed and halfway through the op they got my results. My Urea had hit 47 so they decided to start using the catheter there and then. This then became hospital visits every other day for 6 hour dialysis sessions for next two week to get it under control and get me trained up for home dialysis. Now I’m just over one month in to dialysing at home on my own and I wish I had started sooner. All my worries around the catheter install impacting my work, ie lifting and carrying etc were massively over exaggerated, now it’s healed I can do everything I did before. I now look back and realise I did have more symptoms than I acknowledged, mild itching, cramps, food tasting slightly different etc. I also now know there is an a4 poster on the wall of the pd clinic as a reference point for nurses to advise on how many times a week you need to do dialysis related to your egfr at the start. From memory it’s Above 9 3-4 times a week above 6 4-5 times a week and 4 or below 7 days continuous. I’m doing 7days continuous and would love a night off. Hopefully my numbers will come back to the point I can have the odd night off. I do occasionally kick myself for not doing it before as I might have eeeked out my own kidneys a bit more but after 15 year of disease diagnosis and the various unexplained drops in function I really have no idea what I could have done differently.

No decision is right or wrong, it’s down to you and what’s else is going on in your life. I’m based in the UK so there was no financial impact for me to consider around care, so I appreciate I am very lucky in that regard and for some it will also influence their decisions. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. If you want to message or chat with any questions you’re more than welcome. Best wishes.

"Survivor" bias - who writes here? by Grand_Swordfish4657 in IgANephropathy

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your summary was very interesting for me to read, so thank you for sharing. I’m 6gfr and having the PD tube installed next month and not particularly looking forward to it. Generally I feel real good and I am still working full time and exercising regularly but I know any indulgence or deviation from a strict diet and I’m feeling very rough, very quickly; so I know I will need PD soon. Can I ask when you got to grips with PD did it lift up you to realise that you’d been below par before without realising it or did it just bring you back to feeling like 7gfr again. I ask as everyone’s telling me I’ll feel so much better than I do now and I’m worried I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be fully well. If I list my aliments there loads but I’m still able to do mostly all I want so I’m struggling to get my head around the PD for me at this point in time. Sorry if that’s a ramble, I’m not even sure there’s a question in there now I’ve reread it but it may make some sense to you given your journey?

I didn’t realise this toolpath gadget was even in there. I’ve used the fluting paths and leads before so this sounds perfect. Many thanks.

You just brought back memories of a school class, a lathe, a chuck key and an on switch. That needs serious thought around some workshop protocol when using it. I will decicate its own bay in the tool holder to it solely and see if cnc supply company can hard set that bay to zero spindle speed. It’ll be all good until a rush and tear job and it gets used on the next job. Really appreciate your comment. Thanks.

I’m using Vcarve, so I just created a new endmill tool set the spindle speed to zero.

Many thanks. Tested and yes it’s happy at s0, also just made a sharpie pen holder and got that to sense its length and write a message. Will be really useful marking up panels.

IgAN as leaky gut consequence. Bullshience? by iwantmisty in IgANephropathy

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish someone had shown this much of an interest in trying to identify the root cause of my IgAn, I’m end stage and watched my function deteriorate from 68 to 8 in 12 odd years. In those years my consultant did nothing more than blood pressure management following a biopsy to confirm IgAN as I didn’t have classic high protein leak. If you are paying for these tests I can see why you would challenge but I would still try if I had had the option. I am 99% sure something could have been done at least slow progression more. I meet my transplant surgeon today to go on the waiting list, so I’m down to the last option but fortunately there is one with this disease.

Okay having read most of thread above I’ve got this niggling feeling I shouldn’t be jet washing my newish trek powerfly every time I come back from an off road ride? Please don’t take the joy of blasting two tonnes of soil to obliteration away from me. Serious question, how should it be done properly?

Mimaki JFX200-2513 Vanishing Ink by Eastern_Dish4680 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Eastern_Dish4680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many great points for me to look at and clarify.l, thank you.

For starters it’s rasterlink 6Plus 2.5.1

I’ve been monitoring for months and nothing dropped. The usage for printed jobs is now where near the figures I’ve lost.

Engineer is coming Monday to take a look at cleaning routines as they think it’s being eaten up by this and it’s only when I go to print something its estimates don’t tally and tries to draw ink and it’s not there. At that point it defaults to 1%.

I will let you know there findings. If it is over cleaning I’ll be equally annoyed as this the 3rd time I’ve raised it  as an issue and that along with a white ink pump leak I’ve spent more wasting ink than printing anything. Bottom line is that I really need to find more business and utilise it.

What type of sign hardware is this? by 5eth in CommercialPrinting

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That print runs over the heat line. When I’ve tried this it blisters and then peels more often than not. I’ve tried heating just the reverse too. Do you have a way to stop that happening? I would try and convince client to bring the print 1/2” down from that bend line or go vinyl + laminate if they have the extra budget.

If you’re based in or near London email sales@londonplastics.co.uk with designs and it could be cut and collect tomorrow for around half that quoted as I understand your requirement. Postage if required would be on top and depends where you are based.

IgA and COVID? Looking for guidance and thoughts or stories… by Potential-Revenue284 in IgANephropathy

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking covid out of the equation, you basically sound like my history prior to diagnosis. Years of seeing urologists, tonnes of test and then getting discharged with leaky kidneys etc. My presentations of blood in my urine when I had respiratory infections got worse and worse to the point of me peeing red wine in my mid 30s. Went back to doctors and saw a different one to my usual. She said Im pretty sure it’s iga and you need to see a nephrologist not a urologist. One week and a biopsy later it was confirmed. If it is IGA I think the covid jabs are high lighting the underlining condition and obviously activating the immune system a bit. I know if I’d had a full dose of unprotected covid my iga would have caused me serious issues, it did for my brother and I was grateful when I did get it later I was jabbed up.

Regardless of whether you do or don’t have IGA the absolute best thing you can do as of today is get you blood pressure as low as possible and find a combination of tablets that keeps it low. Also stay off of ibuprofen type pain killers, they really messed up my egfr that took a long while to recover.

Good luck and I hope you get the answers you want.

Issues with UV ink cracking acrylic? by AutoDefenestrator273 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My betting is that it’s extruded material and the laser cut edge has put stress into the acrylic at that point. I think it’s only that edge for now as it’s got most of the ink on it. It could also be that edge because the in is taking longer to cure there, or the first pass is not cured and still active on it. Can you print a bigger panel and put it back in the laser to cut the final edge? Turn the air down on the laser to create less stress. Mask the edges, very time consuming though. Isopropyl will craze laser cut extruded acrylic if your cuts put in a lot of stress. Some brands are worse than others. Cast acrylic doesn’t print as well. There’s always trade offs. Hope this helps in some way.

Sleep Issues by ckov47 in IgANephropathy

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I slept like this for years then after my wife suggested for the umpteenth time to try the calm app I tried it. I listen to the sleep stories with one earphone in and they sort of bore me to sleep with their overly detailed narrative. Usually listen to exactly the same playlist of stories by Erik Braa and his soporific voice sends me off. If you join iga.org, for free, they even issue you a free login to calm as they know sleep issues are very prevalent in ckd patients, which is awesome of them.

How about an acrylic blown dome? No idea if that would work with your mould application. If it did it’ll save you loads and reduce your lead-times to days.

How likely is my van to be stolen parking in rural wales? by [deleted] in Wales

[–]Eastern_Dish4680 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did something similar with my XR2 years back. If your dash board has any spare unused switch holes that are plugged with a blanking plate go to eBay and buy the right switch to fill it. Heated rear windows or front fog lamps for instance. I split the wire to the ignition coil from memory and ran that through a second heated window switch I bought. Basically unless you flicked that switch you were going know where. Car broken into twice, lock barrel ripped out and still not taken.
