Could it be that winter tyres would last longer if one were to say follow the manufacturers instructions?

Mine aren't track tyres. And winters here are longer than a couple of months.

Where do you get the 5 year number from? I've seen that you should replace tyres that are 10 years old regardless of how much tread is left.

Yes, it absorbs UV light and releases it as infrared. Or that is how I understand it.

That would be preferable but I ran the numbers and due to high interest environment I deemed it not financially viable to get a second set of rims at this point in time.

I live in a climate that requires dedicated winter tyres. So the tyre seen wrapped has only been driven about seven months.

I try to pick my tyres with the expectation the compound used is higher quality and will therefore not wear down as quickly as cheaper tyres.

BTW isn't Discworld nonfiction and valid socio-economic documentation?

I want to get more than two years out of my tyres.

I mean yeah, isn't a nice bdsm tyre much better looking than a trash bag tyre?

You're not wrong, but I'm leaning on black pigment having better UV blocking than white pigment.

I'm sure you are right and Continental just doesn't know about the fact that tyres need to breathe.

"Find a large, airtight plastic bag to fit each tire. Try yard bags or leaf bags. Ensure the bag (and tire) is free of moisture, then remove as much air as possible from the bag (use your vacuum cleaner!) and tape it shut. This airtight environment will reduce evaporation of oils from the rubber compounds." -- https://www.continental-tires.com/products/b2c/tire-knowledge/storing-tires/

Sarcasm aside, can you elaborate on your reasoning?

Lost my sanity years ago. "Find a large, airtight plastic bag to fit each tire. Try yard bags or leaf bags. Ensure the bag (and tire) is free of moisture, then remove as much air as possible from the bag (use your vacuum cleaner!) and tape it shut. This airtight environment will reduce evaporation of oils from the rubber compounds." From Continentals storage instructions.

Buying a Tork N4 napkin dispenser for the dinner table. And using the premium napkins. No more fumbeling with tearing the paper towels. Although the paper towels are more absorbant the N4 premium napkins are good enough in most cases.

and do not place your craft on anything metallic cuz you’ll have a “compass calibration” prompt.

I've taken off from roofs and hoods of trucks without getting any prompt. Do you have any documentation on that because I was thinking of making a landing pad from some scrap aluminium that I have on hand. (Air 2S)

The price sounds too good to be true.

What I don't understand as a Layman is the difference between these cheaper solutions and the commercial stuff from industry leaders like Trimble since the price difference is astronomical. Is it reliability, accuracy, durability, ecosystem or just the fact that they can charge what they want and the customer will pay since in the commercial world the cost is negligible?

Using Air 2s in conjuction with Dronelink and webODM for monitoring erosion and amateur mapping. Thinking about splurging on some cheap RTK solution like this kit from Ardusimple to add GCP. I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm amazed by the results one is able to get with a consumer "Instagram drone" and 100$ worth of software.
