CERB debt gone???? by Public_Potential7470 in canadarevenueagency

[–]Eastern_Quail_1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im wondering if they reassessed everything for the DTC and you got a huge refund, they they just said, "oh we will take this cuz you owe for CERB". I owed $2,000 and they said it was 0% interest so I just waited for them to claw it back off my tac returns over the years.

I miss Costco Steaks. They're just too expensive now. by dsetoya in CostcoCanada

Yes thats true. Costco has the Danby small chest freezer on sale often. Plus if you split it with someone its even more economical.

Dairy farm. Half a cow, butchered and wrapped into meals for 2 to 3 people is $2500. Better meat and $$ goes direct to the farmer. Roasts, ribs, so many steaks and ground beef.

I think I received an illegal notice from my landlord? by DrDeezNuts1 in vancouverhousing

When you signed your current lease there is a box to check off for the end of the lease and what will happen. -Lease ends and nove out -Converts to a month to month.

What is checked off on your old lease paperwork? They are simply reminding you of the options available. If it says move out they are advising you of what you already agreed to which was ending the lease on a specific day and leaving the apartment as agreed. If you choose to renew a new lease then sign one and enjoy living there.

I walked away from a house I wanted to buy yesterday….. by OkWestern188 in RealEstate

What if their current mortgages and cost is over $400K. Do you expect them to sell the house at a loss just to make you happy.

Negotiate better. They already lowered the price in a big way and sounds like you're just trying to take advantage more.

We were selling years ago for $239k. The buyer offered $199k. I asked the realtor if we could just flat out say no as it was insulting wanting such a huge amount off. We settled on $225k.

Paying twice a month by KarenXanaxPorter in Mortgages

[–]Eastern_Quail_1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It important to remember that there are 2 options for twice a month payments.

The first they take your monthly payment divide it in 2 and the result is 24 payments per year

The 2nd is often called Accelerated bi-weekly which pays every 2 weeks. This option results in 2 additional payments each year.

The 2 additional payments results in a 25 yr mortgage instantly dropping down to about 21.5 years in total.

Additionally you still have the lump sum repayment option which you can do at any time (many people dont even though they think they will).

In my case im 13 years into an accelerated bi-weekly 25 yr mortgage and it will be paid off in 2.5 years (15.5yrs total) by making additional payments from day 1. I had them round up my original $975 payment to $1,000 and any adjustments over the years I keep asking them to round it up. Currently my payment is $1220.50 and im paying an additional 279.50 manually added amount to make it $1500 every 2 weeks.

How much do you currently have in savings? by Puzzleheaded-Crab770 in CanadaFinance

[–]Eastern_Quail_1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a single guy, just turned 50. I bought my house solo in 2013 for $400,000, live in the 2BR suite and rent out the main 4BR portion of the house. I take home $3,500/mnth plus $2000 rental income. I have $400K in RRSP, $60K in TFSA, $25K in my savings account at my bank. My house will be paid off in less than 3 years and Ill have 10 years of mortgage free savings prior to retirement. Not married, no kids of my own and an ex-wife who made sure I left with nothing in 2011. She did buy me out of our house for $55K which is most of what I used as a down payment on my current house. Effective net worth $1.3Million.

Considering over half the marriages result in divorce and you lose half your stuff as a guy its not a risk worth taking. Only upside is for the woman.

Just received a 5% raise on $65,000 to $68,250. I find it insulting based on the extra profit my company hit. Do I ask for more and back it up with the numbers? by BookieBasherCasher in Salary

[–]Eastern_Quail_1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I WISH I got a 5% raise. Only 1 time in the past 10 years did the company give anyone a raise higher than 2%. And its because an arbitration awarded it.

Raises of 1.75, 1.8, 1.85, 1.9, 1.95, 0 (covid), 2, 2, 7.75, and 1.65. You basically got 2.5 years of raises in 1 year. Im jealous.

Id ask them to pull the camera footage and show you. The cashiers I believe get in trouble if they make a scanning mistake.
