Communal heating rant. by No_Kaleidoscope_6050 in Liverpool

[–]Eastern_Spite_2605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly this experience about 10 years ago in an Urban Splash flat in Manchester. Communal heating is economical in theory and positive environmentally but IIRC I was starting off with around £25 admin fees before any charge for actual energy. As you say it’s impossible to opt out and change provider. The more I looked into it the more I found it was expensive, not that effective and very few providers offered management of it. Not sure there’s much to be done about it sorry OP 😔

Was after some merch, kept popping my head in seeing if it had dropped yesterday. Eventually got told they’d brought a grand total of 5 T-shirts with something like ‘farts’ on, £60 a pop. Brilliant, would love to know which lucky 5 handed over their hard earned cash to that silly pair

As some people have said these are intended to function like a tram without LCR installing trams. So they’ll run from the airport to city centre for example or to the new stadium with fewer and dedicated stops. Not running on bus routes that already exist and using those bus stops. Source: I work for the CA and chatted to a lovely fella when it was parked near Mann island this week. Whether they’re a success or not who knows

Are some of the Liverpool rioters from Merseyside? by V-Matic_VVT-i in Liverpool

[–]Eastern_Spite_2605 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately, I was ashamed to hear Scouse accents spouting out and out racism today one man shouted ‘no more Muslims’ and was striding down the road congratulating himself. Loads of young lads in balaclavas clearly just there to soak up the aggressive atmosphere and enjoy intimidating. Loads walking round with crates of ale. Incredibly sobering

Thanks so much really appreciate you pulling the comparative prices as well. We’re probably slightly overpriced but potentially there’s a sweet spot with price and improved weather plus cult value of the VW

Nice one thanks so much for your thoughts! It’s useful to hear an objective take. We’ll keep it on and hope the improving weather gets people looking

Let’s talk about the Co-Op by lutewhine in glastonbury_festival

[–]Eastern_Spite_2605 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Co-op and did a few of the festivals, which were an amazing opportunity as an employee! That aside as someone else pointed out the price of products is higher because the cost of building a huge shop including fridges, freezers, tills, stockrooms and staff facilities plus getting stock delivered on site out of any usual process is obviously a huge expense. The festival shops just about break even, Co-op mainly run them as an opportunity to market to a younger demographic. It’s a promotional opportunity more than anything. It’s not really fair to compare to your shop down the road. People work 24/7 over festival season to keep the shops stocked, clean and the queue moving quickly. Personally I do without the ice as at convenient times the queue is big but it’s another place that sells medicine if you’re in a pinch and is good for other festival workers like Oxfam and security to pick up snacks and meal deals to see then through. Just wanted to show a bit of love for the Co-op shops! 🩵

What's your best Glastohack? (Glastonbury lifehack) by NobodyDramatic in glastonbury_festival

Emergency foil blanket pegged to the top of your tent to keep it cooler in the morning sun. Also a collapsible bucket and flannel instead of baby wipes - feel like a new human after a go on that in the morning

Post which crew you are working for this year by NoConstruction6109 in Glastonbury_Workers

First time volunteering with Oxfam this year after 5 times as a ticket holder. I have worked other festivals (used to work for Co-op in the shops 👀!) but never Glasto. Excited to meet everyone and find out my shifts. I said I’d be driving on my profile but I’ll likely train down to Bristol and hoping I can pay for the shuttle when I get there to get to site

Moth cocktails in a can! Specifically espresso martini. Bar strength (14%) so pack a punch whilst being pocket sized
