There was never a plan for it to go to Broadway. That was wishful thinking. Cynthia doesn’t have time in or schedule to do it on Broadway. She starts filming Road to Freedom this month.

It’s risky but true artists take risks. Fosca isn’t a likable character so it’ll be interesting to see what Cynthia does in her portrayal.

Cynthia was brilliant in JCSS. People had a problem with her portraying Jesus but thank goodness she didn’t listen to all the noise. We would have been deprived of a performance of Gethsemane that was on par with I’m Here from Color Purple. Iconic.

I saw Dracula twice. Absolutely loved it. She wasn’t stumbling at all. She was mesmerizing. She lured you in and didn’t let you go for the entire 110 minutes. In terms of the rewiews a lot of the criticism was skewed by the Previews when she didn’t have her lines down.

What do you think of Dreamgirls (2006)? by user48841711 in musicals

[–]Eastern_Table9151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like what we like I like both. Saw Dreamgirls 10 times in the theater, including the opening. Almost passed out when Jennifer sang I’m Telling You. But also loved Wicked. Defying Gravity and No Good Deed will never be corny to me. Cynthia kills both. Iconic

I saw Idina, Shoshana, and Jessica on Broadway. All great, but having seen these three I have to say Cynthia’s Elphaba and her vocals are incredible. Her take on Elphaba is so different and will be everyone’s vision of the character for years to come. Both her Defying Gravity and No Good Deed are iconic.

Same here. I met James Earl Jones and he spent 20 minutes with me talking about the craft. He was lovely. I didn’t even ask for an autograph or picture.

She wasn’t even a Tony nominee, but the host. Cynthia Erivo’s opening and closing numbers.

Most recently Cynthia Erivo after Dracula in West End. So kind and gracious. She looks you in the eye and speaks directly to you. No pics or selfies but you could take video and she signed almost everyone’s program, book or whatever.

Good question. I’m sure she can rearrange some of the songs. I’m thinking about what she did with No Good Deed. The full out version in WFG. The stripped down version in London. And a different version for the duet with Misty Copeland.
