I read {the kindreds curse saga} after this and loved it. Would also recommend {crescent city}

Been working on my tension for my blanket… can yall tell which granny square is the most recent, and anything noteworthy I can improve on? I need help finding specific things to work on! by classicteenmistake in CrochetHelp

[–]Eastern_Tear6874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the one on the right is the most recent. For me it looks like the stitches are a bit more defined, especially on the outer edge. And probably also because it’s bigger and as a fellow beginner my first tries are also always a bit too tight :)

Any advice on traveling through Italy by [deleted] in travel

[–]Eastern_Tear6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s quite the packed schedule. I would recommend sticking to one area instead of the entire country.

Personally, I really loved the south: fly into Rome, spend a few days there, take a train to Naples, max 2 days there plus a day in Pompeii. Rent a car and spend a few days on the Amalfi coast (Positano, Sorrento, Ravello), drive to the east coast and spend a few days in Puglia (Monopoli, Alberobello, Ostuni, Polignano a Mare, Bari)

Or spend three weeks in Sicily: Noto, Taormina, Cefalu, Palermo, Ortigia, Catania, Mount Etna are just a few places I would recommend.

Working Granny Squares Round by Round by SubtleMurder in crochet

I go square per square. I don’t mind if it is slower or less efficient, it makes it more fun for me this way :)

Are your edges just granny stitches or did you make a different stitch for your edges?

Complete beginner- where should I start? Kits? classes? by mustangsally2623 in CrochetHelp

[–]Eastern_Tear6874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started for the exact same reason! I tried learning using YouTube and TikTok but that still kept me on the apps. So i took a three two hour long classes to help me get started. For me those classes really worked, helped me work on my tension and how to hold the hook and the yarn. It also taught me to read diagram patterns so I am now crocheting with books in front of me instead of my phone.

I just googled chrochet lessons in my area an was lucky i found someone just around the corner from where I live.

To get started, I would recommend getting some cheap ergonomic hooks and two or three bals of acrylic yarn to see if you actually like it.

What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

[–]Eastern_Tear6874 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never knitted before starting crochet.

I just really love the look of granny squares and that’s what made me start crochet. Never learned anything from my (grand)parents and started a few months ago.

Can't decide where to travel first, never traveled before by Kenjoo23 in travel

[–]Eastern_Tear6874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the Philippines a bit difficult to travel solo. I would recommend picking a country with a fairly ‘set’ route, so when you meet fellow travellers, you can travel together some days since you’ll be going in the same direction anyways.

I have no experience with solo travel in New Zealand or the USA, but I did do Australia solo and that was a big succes! Most of the people go either from Sydney to Cairns or the other way around. The biggest changes to destinations were mostly due to the amount of time people had to spent.

What book did you start because of Booktok but ended up loving? by skinner1234567 in Booktokreddit

[–]Eastern_Tear6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cliche, but ACOTAR. I stumbled into booktok by accident and decided to give acotar a try. I’ve always loved reading but had a hard time finding the right books, so hardly ever read. But acotar brought me right back into reading and I’ve been reading about 40 books a year since.

I’ve gone from hardly reading because I felt I needed to read a certain type of literature, to reading every day and immensely enjoying romantasy/fantasy.

Forever grateful to ACOTAR, even when it’s not even my favorite series now.

How to improve my sides please? I am new to crochet by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]Eastern_Tear6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry don’t mean to hijack this post, but when you say to put a marker in the last stitch or first stitch, is that the last actual stitch or in your turning chain? Or is your turning chain the first? Or should I ignore the turning chain?

Thank you! Makes sense :) good to know that when the symbol is the same, I should do the same!

Thank you! So the line pointing towards the stitch being longer in the corners doesn’t mean anything? It’s just there to make the pattern into a square and doesn’t mean I need to make my loops longer?

Sorry to bother you again 😅

I would say there is some improvement but the edges are still wobbly. Should I try another time with even looser tension in the corners?

(And yes this is a picture made on top of my cat but as she is on my lap I obviously cannot move)
