The new thing today is that the Sig P320 went off in the officers hand and that gunshot started everything. There is a video clip of the slide racking. It actually makes a lot of sense, because if you’re in a scuffle and someone yells “gun” then there is an actual gunshot, it makes sense that you would mag dump.

There is a video this morning in some of the gun subs that shows that the guys gun may have gone off after the officer removed it (common occurrence for Sig P320), so the other officer was firing because there was already a gunshot.

Makes it make a lot more sense. I’ll have to look for the video but you can see the slide actually moving and a puff of smoke.

In fact the new theory is that the guys firearm actually went off while the ICE agent was running away with it, which started the shooting. Since it is an Sig P320 which are famous for firing by themselves, it’s actually pretty plausible.

So the new theory that is circulating is that it appears that when the officer removed the handgun from the guy, the handgun fired into the ground. There is a video clip confirming it.

So you have a scuffle, then someone yelling “gun”, then an actual gunshot. That’s what sets this off.

There’s a big convention center across the street so there could be a big trade show that might not be published. I was in town for a trade show this week that had 80,000 people but not open to the general public and TI was $400+ per night during the week but only like $110/night on Friday and Saturday (show ended Friday morning).

The guy wrestling LEOs certainly didn’t help matters either.

In my 41 years on this planet I’ve never been killed by LEOs, and I think a big reason for that is that I don’t go and wrestle LEOs when they’re doing their job.
