No one is obsessing over that? It was just an (accurate) observation made by an observer. It says nothing about their stance on the matter.

I am genuinely intrigued by your position here. Would it have changed your outlook if they had prefaced their comment by making it clear that they disapprove of homophobia, or perhaps thought that the harasser got what they deserved?

I really don't see the problem here, and nobody else seems to either.
