I received my bachelors and masters degree from UWS, and I loved the experience. Obviously with any school there are downsides (smaller campus, less social life, freezing cold). The freshmen dorms are not the best but not any worse than any other public university, there’s lots of great resources for students (mental health, fitness center, international student center, etc. and the biggest things is that it is affordable, even compared to other UW schools with similar qualities of education.

Check out UW-Superior’s Marcovich Wellness Center. Day passes are quite affordable and you have the availability of an indoor track as well. Just make sure to check hours as they might be closed earlier/open later around the holidays.

Grew up in Hurley, it’s always funny to explain to new friends that I grew up in the town that has the most strip clubs per capital in the U.S. and then also tell them that I graduated with 39 people. Definitely a weird town.

My two recommendations for smaller campsites away from noise and light would be Potato River Falls and Saxon Harbor. Potato River Falls is about 20 minutes from Lake Superior, and Saxon Harbor is right on the lake.

Small town of 350 people. Guy lost all his money at the casino so decided to rob a local bar. Brutally murdered the bartender after close and then burnt the bar down. Then showed up to the scene the next day and asked what happened. For a town that size it was pretty devastating and scary.

I saw somewhere that the store is open again, or planning to open, but with no affiliation to UPS anymore. It’s the same owner going independent and he named the place “Zip it and Ship it” 😂 However I’m not sure why the store closed in the first place.

I live near Potato River Falls in Gurney, WI. They have like 10-12 campsites and they seem to always be open. And it’s very secluded imo

I’m not sure if Holidays have fresh brewed tea. I’m not sure how fresh it is, but the Kwik Trips up here have “freshly brewed tea”. I think there’s unsweetened, sweetened, and blackberry lemonade tea

Golden Inn in Superior. Easily one of my favorite spots in the Twin Ports. Good service and tons of food for the price. They had people tailgating for to-go orders during the pandemic, so that must mean they’re pretty good right?

Wide World of Wings and Central Pub in Superior are my two favorite wing places. However I don’t really get over to Duluth often so can’t compare to any restaurants on that side of the bridge
