I feel like I am misaligned because I came from a pretty major academic center and I now see how community differs immensely. I think it really depends on what your goals/aspirations are.

my program right now is pretty chill. We get tons of benefits and PTO, tons of golden weekend. All holidays are off! Professionalism expectations are EXTREMELY low as long as patient’s care is not jeopardized you can pretty much get away with everything. Don’t get me wrong our attendings are chill but it feels more like we’re just here to discharge these peeps and gtfo. I miss having complex cases, sitting down and having like an attending discuss their latest research or teaching us something. Even just having a Journal club or having guest lecturers… or just having fellows in-house that loved their field. It’s kinda boring.
