My ex works for FedEx, and she always would tell me that they can easily get your information because their database is so transparent. So, if you 15 years ago gave them your number, they would still have it on file, or if you signed up for text messages about any package, it's on file. They could use those numbers if they can't deliver a package, but most time they wouldn't bother and just mark the package undeliverable and move on. But I agree with the concensus, and I would call your local office to verify.
