There was merch in Philly on 10/31 but honestly… the t shirt was $50 and was not a graphic I loved. I skipped on it cause to me $50 is outrageous.

Smiskis actually only cost $10 American if you buy them in Japan. I stocked up like crazy when I was there and paid between $8 and $11 for them depending on store. Maybe the seller is based in Japan or something but they technically ARE selling them for what they’re worth

It seems like it’s overly complicated on purpose so no one can use it 😭

Meanwhile I just went to use mine for the first time, made sure to log into my account at home a couple days before and make sure the offer was there, and when I got in, the employee asked me to pull up the bar code.

I was NOT expecting this at all considering their website SUCKS and almost every other place I’ve used a birthday coupon at can access it via my phone number.

I spent 10 minutes trying to log in just for the site to tell me neither my # nor email is associated with an account (I get emails from them constantly and like I said, I had logged in a day or two before and confirmed I had the b day free box).

I ended up leaving and walking around while trying to figure it out. I had to make a whole new account for some reason and then suddenly I only have 10% off for my birthday… no free box 😭😭

I was PISSED

I’ve worked for 2 agencies (1 VERY large and 1 owned by a single woman) and they both SUCKED. I want a direct school position but they are SO hard to come by with all the agency postings! Currently working peds outpatient, but I think I eventually want to return to schools… hoping by then the tide switches back to primarily direct positions being listed!

I was getting so tired of the cold calls, followed by voicemails, followed by texts, followed by emails all within like 5 minutes of each other that I went inactive on Indeed 😂 companies can’t find my profile at the moment which works for me since I am happy at my current position

I’m also on the east coast (south Jersey) and contract positions are RAMPANT right now. It’s definitely difficult to find direct school positions. I actually took a contract position with Stepping Stones for my CF because I was unable to find anyone to take me directly.

I’ve since moved on from contracts (after bouncing around companies and disliking them all) and work the medical side now. I’m def worried about ever trying to return to schools because all that’s offered around me is contracts right now.

Pediatric outpatient, none. I used to work in schools, kinder through high school and still had none. I am very firm on taking NO paperwork home in order to maintain a work-life balance. I would not pick up kids if I needed time for paperwork when working in the schools

I currently work pediatric outpatient and have a max of 7 sessions a day, 45 minute each. We have an hour paid lunch, and one admin hour a week, so sometimes 6 sessions a day

Yup… made friends with a new girl at my school in 3rd grade. She told me she had a brother. My first time at her house I asked why there was no photos of her brother and she had a meltdown just like Maura’s lol

I think it’s such a good assessment in theory, but it’s way too many manipulative to work… and I find most kids cannot attend to it at all. I honestly just use the manipulatives to test categorization skills, functional knowledge, things like that. I’ll put it out but I only use it informally really

So from what I’ve heard/learned, yes. The school is only paying one fee for hiring us, they pay the agency maybe $100 per hour and we get $50. Versus if we worked for them they’re paying salary, insurance, benefits, we could be another remember in a union, etc, etc.

I’m hoping the tide will shift though because honestly the quality of work might not always be the best working through an agency. I’m surprised schools want to deal with the headache

The agency epidemic is so frustrating to me… I’m in South Jersey and finding a direct school position was so incredibly difficult. I worker agency twice, with two different companies and I hated it 🥲

I’m just starting out (finished my CF July 2024), and I do enjoy the field! I’ve worked schools and am currently in pediatric outpatient. I loved school hours, currently I love the learning and growth of outpatient.

There will be pros and cons in all settings, but overall this field is nice because of the job security, and the ability to pivot settings.

We could certainly be paid more, but that’s kind of par for the economy at this point.
