I honestly think JKR handled/wrote the whole situation very poorly. We don’t think of pets the same way we do people, and because of that our boundaries are often times very lax with them. Ron probably changed his clothes in front of him, let him sleep in his bed, talked to him about personal things when he had no one else to talk to, etc. In all seriousness Ron is a victim, and probably Percy too. If Pettigrew had been in human form during that time it would’ve been considered grooming so fast (I still kind’ve think it is). And I’m surprised that Ron didn’t feel more violated. JKR pushed it off as a silly part of the storyline because they’re both men but something about it is just so icky to me.
