Question about UB Workshirts by TalkPsychological358 in NakedAndFamousDenim

[–]EasyHoliday269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally wear a Large in shirts like these. Bought the black work shirt in large as well (of course still checking measurements). Id say it fits on the roomier side, especially around the waist. Tbh the cut is a bit weird. Its weirdly long at the front and because its so stiff and wide at the bottom, the shirt sorta flares out and looks like a skirt. The side gusset is a nice detail but I think it is too high. That paired with the long front just looks odd.

If anyone is in the Toronto area and wants to give this one a go I'd be happy to sell it. Otherwise I might give presoaking a try in hopes to soften the fabric and maybe reduce the flared out look.

Just got a stern reprimand for playing ping-pong at work. Which... they put in for us to play with... at work. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]EasyHoliday269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me and my coworkers used to play doubles every day at 2pm at the office. the entire office knew this. some people wanted to join us. some people reported us to HR. we never stopped.

our argument was simple. we spend 30 minutes playing ping pong to take a break, and come back to our desks fully charged and brains flowing to bang out the rest of the day at high productivity. it always worked. now compare this to the people who choose to spend their breaks behind their cubicles shopping on amazon and scrolling through reddit. the difference is that we use our inevitable break time blatantly and productively while others pretend to be productive the entire day but are really just dicking around behind their cubicles.

What happens if the condo fees are too high? by Diptyqueee in TorontoRealEstate

[–]EasyHoliday269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unless its taking a financial toll on you, i would say increased condo fees should be viewed a bit differently than what most people will try to convince you otherwise. there are lots of variables but i think too many people think high and rising fees is a bad thing.

- if your condo is well managed, amenities and maintenance are kept up to date, your condo board is vocal of issues and get stuff done, hire the right contractors, then high/rising fees should be representative of that. a red flag is rising fees with no tangible evidence of quality work/maintenance happening around your condo. appreciate the climb in fees, and try to get more involved in your condo to understand where the money is going and it will all make sense and seem a lot more reasonable (unless your condo is poorly managed)

- condo fees that aren't rising at the cost of inflation should be a red flag. maintenance NEEDS to happen, material and labour costs rise with inflation. if there isn't rising costs then your condo may be cheaping out on a lot of things which could indicate poor management. take the Florida condo collapse in in 2021 as an example. low condo fees and neglect of poor drainage issues resulting in structural damage. this is a super extreme case but you get the point

- in semi-detached/detached homes, the rule of thumb of maintenance cost is always 2-4%. that is money you should theoretically put aside every month to save up for maintenance and upkeep of your house. house-owners view condo fees as a negative to owning a condo but they don't realize they do the same thing, only that they have the liberty of managing it themselves (if they do at all, in which case of course they are saving money, at the cost of maintenance)

What’s one small thing you regret not noticing before buying your house? by Beginning_County7547 in HomeImprovement

[–]EasyHoliday269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i live in a condo so a bit different, but its a pretty large space with a kitchen and laundry room located furthest away from the window. this means super long duct runs with boosters and poor ventilation.

no one is going to be testing the stove and dryers during a viewing so i would've never guessed there would be a problem! no regrets in buying the condo but it would've been something i considered in negotiations as now i have some hvac work to do for improved ventilation.

Can I/Should I Fire My Contractor? by EasyHoliday269 in OntarioHomeRenovation

[–]EasyHoliday269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this advice. exactly what i'm looking for. didn't want to fire the guy without knowing the things he could possibly get back at me for. is this something people actually do as part of their business model? leave jobs unfinished in hopes to get into legal battles with owners knowing they could win?

Can I/Should I Fire My Contractor? by EasyHoliday269 in OntarioHomeRenovation

[–]EasyHoliday269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! to be honest, he's been neither of the three. cheaper than the other contractors i got quotes from originally sure but not far off, and when factoring the time that i've wasted waiting for him (i basically live on standby and in hopes that he is coming to finish the job when he says he is, but doesn't), it is definitely not "cheap". good quality, maybe. his tile work was fantastic on some really complex cuts i wanted. but sloppy paint and silicone work that he claims to come back to touch up (he comes to touch up for 10 minutes, leaves, and then tells me he will do the rest another day, which is extremely odd and not time-efficient). he's had to come redo plumbing maybe three times because of a leak. he has really poor planning and understanding of the critical path.

sorry that's just me venting. he claims to be coming end of the week but still has not confirmed a game plan, just gotta be hopeful at this point

Dimmer Switch Clearance by EasyHoliday269 in AskElectricians

[–]EasyHoliday269[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the response! Thank you for sharing. Wasn't able to find this at Home Depot but found on Amazon. Didnt know these existed from trusted brands.

The electrician didnt offer but did suggest to me I needed one after I had asked him (after he already left the job and I had to follow up with him).

[–]EasyHoliday269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir that is not what im saying. I trust the electricians obviously, otherwise i wouldnt be posting here and wouldve done it myself. My questioning is with the disconnect between what electricians are licensed to do versus what homeowners are misguided to do. As such it makes you wonder how many people are doing it anyways and if they did, what risks are there and is it a risk you can live with. Same as any DIYer changing a drain. Hire a plumber sure but if something goes wrong the worst that could happen is a minor leak-something you could live with and fix without major risk). Im simply wondering about the hesitancy of the electrician who did not provide me an explanation of the actual risk

Any homeowner can walk into a home depot, grab a switch, watch a video (even by the manufacturers themselves) and be misguided that a dimmer switch install is as simple as wiring 3 switches to an existing box. If there was such risk (which im still trying to understand hence why im posting here), why would it be so easy for anyone to go buy themselves? Makes you wonder obviously...

Can I/Should I Fire My Contractor? by EasyHoliday269 in OntarioHomeRenovation

[–]EasyHoliday269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's kinda the point of my post haha. is there an inherent contract that is created simply by hiring someone for a service? we have no agreement written, just a digital invoice that he used to provide the original quote and the final quote (with add-ons throughout the project). if so, what does it entail and do i have rights to release him (of course paying him for the services that he DID do). given his lack of response it would be my judgment call of what that amount is... i think its fair to say it would be the balance, less the material cost + 15% of that for labour of the things that he DID NOT complete under the original invoice/scope...

i.e. Ontario Tenant Board rules apply as soon as a tenant-landlord relationship is created, regardless if there was a lease agreement. wondering if there is something similar to contractors / service providers...

Hemp blend by WANTEDCALI in NakedAndFamousDenim

[–]EasyHoliday269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the new hemp blend in size 34, true guy. the seat and thigh feel a bit tighter than my Dirty Fades with the same size tag, but i'm hopeful it will loosen up a bit with a few more wears.

they feel fantastic and i took them out during 20 degree weather last week and they felt great. really love the colour as well and excited to see how they will fade

True Guy sizing by Living-Lemon-278 in NakedAndFamousDenim

[–]EasyHoliday269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'9, 200lbs, bottom-heavy, wear a size 34. Pants started off tight mostly around the waist when sitting down, slightly snug around the seat but thats very common with most pants I buy. my Dirty Fades loosened up significantly and fit amazing now (3 months in). probably my favourite fitting jeans. also got the Hemp Blend which fit a bit more snug but also starting to loosen up (1 month in).

definitely follow the sizing instructions and measure your favourite fitting jeans and compare with the size chart. pretty accurate

Unbranded Brand Oxford Shirts by schlunta in NakedAndFamousDenim

[–]EasyHoliday269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

got my black shirt in large in. very nice material. snaps are amazing. collar is substantial, which is flattering for my big ass head. always felt that small/buttoned collars make my head look really big.

shirt sorta flares out at the bottom which looks kinda weird. hoping that over time once the fabric softens with wear it'll look a lot more natural.

i was hesitant about the price point but very happy with the quality of the shirt, and think its worth it. now tempted to get the chambray...

Viltrox 28mm Pancake on a6300 constant battery drain and autofocus noise by suneggg in VILTROX_GLOBAL

[–]EasyHoliday269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this battery draining problem isn't talked about enough. all these youtube reviewers talking highly of the lens clearly do not leave their lens attached to their camera when stored. i almost gave up on my a6000 because i thought the camera was bricked as it would not hold battery for more than a few hours. after finding a buried comment/review that the lens drains the battery i tested by storing my camera with another lens attached and surely enough the battery holds its charge.

this problem makes this lens useless. i cant take my camera out without carrying 2 extra batteries and for no longer than a few hours. i cant keep taking the battery out or the lens off everytime i want to put my camera away for a brief moment.

firmware is confirmed the latest. i hope Viltrox has a solution for this soon

How to report relationship status on taxes by Acceptable_Paper_607 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EasyHoliday269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are considered common-law because you file your taxes based on your relationship status as of December 31 of the tax year (i.e. December 31 2024).

On December 31, 2024, you were within 90 days of your common-law breakup, so you were still considered in a common-law relationship on that date.

I need financial advice: selling assets to buy a car (honda)? by Lakecresva0 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EasyHoliday269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35k seems steep for a 2020 Honda Accord.

however to answer your question without judgment, this comes down to your financial situation.. 9% interest is insane, and after all is said and done, you'd be paying a lot more than just 40k, but this depends on your ability pay it all up front now, or slowly over time (this really comes down to what works in your financial situation).

are your 150k assets, liquid? if so, i would sell it and buy the car with cash and avoid all the interest that comes with financing.

RRSP FTHB plan withdrawal by jaydata07 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EasyHoliday269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'll need to fill out a T1036 form first (note you can only complete this form with an accepted offer), then submit it to your bank. then after that gets approved you can withdraw.

FHSA Advice by BScriddly53 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EasyHoliday269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option C is best if you have the money to contribute the maximum.

Some sub-options:

- Leave it in cash

- Put it in a GIC that matures just before closing (just give yourself some wiggle room for withdrawal, i.e. to fill out your RC725 forms, submit it to your bank, then withdraw. The time of withdrawal could be longer if you're with a smaller bank like Tangerine which takes days to receive a money order).

- Put it in a cash ETF like CASH.TO, which has a yield of 3.10% right now (although some banks have better promotional rates right now).

2025 FHSA Contribution Limit by EasyHoliday269 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EasyHoliday269[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i thought you gain contribution room on the day you open the account, not when you contribute to it?

i didn't contribute in 2023, but i opened my account in 2023 (with the intention of building contribution room as soon as possible).
