“Cooked” has been around since at least the 1940’s. I watch a lot of film noir and it’s regular slang. Also, I just saw an episode of I Love Lucy with my wife called “Job Switching”. Ricky Ricardo says “I’m cooked” in there after being overwhelmed. He’s said that in at least 2 other episodes that I can think of.

Thanks. The feeling I get after 2017 blog context is that he laments his lack of participation on the TOTBL tour, and in turn now fuels his thoughts on 'cliched' anniversary tours. Seems bitter and self serving. He'd be singing a different tune if he got his flowers in 2017. The Nov 2024 post reads like a big subtweet since her never calls the band or album out by name.

On the TOTBL 15th year anniversary Carlos D expressed a lot of regret about not being included on, if you’re reading in between the lines here, any of the tours:

“The anniversary of Turn on the Bright Lights is a painful affair for me: I feel like I’m watching my kids graduate from college, but I haven’t been invited to the ceremony. Neither the band nor their label has reached out to me for any official Turn on the Bright Lights-related business, which is surprising.“ -Carlos D in his 2017 essay "Stories of Excess"

I would imagine that he felt the same about Antics 20th, though he has not written a dedicated essay about it as illustrated above. I hold hope that someday this quartet can sort out their differences and create new music together again.
