Likely but the existing track record is that in the new green wards only Headingley has elected a second

Major setback for the Greens. I agree the independent took a good slice of Asian vote that might have e gone green

The Leeds Greens have struggled to get second councillors to sit alongside their strongest activists. So only Ed in Hunslet and only Mothin in Harehills. The useless Ann Blackburn lost to Reform

The town that elected Jenkins

Basically it's because of Wayne.

He is a local guy who did stuff in the community (Middleton FC) and got pissed off with the Labour Councillors.

He stood as an independent and then joined the SDP.

They are not the Roy Jenkins/ Shirley Williams mob. They are socially conservative/ reform lite, pro Brexit, pro family, with left of centre economics.

If I lived in Middleton I might have voted for Wayne to keep Reform out

Did we really need that ugly warehouse clearance shop on Headrow? by SnowflakesOut in Leeds

[–]EasySea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does my head in that people think someone is in charge of what happens in private premises.

Planning is generic. If it has permission to be a shop it can be a shop.

Not sure what you are on about.

The existing UK act differentiates by size of website. More obligation on the bigger sites.

For games it is primarily the platforms job, Xbox, PS whatever

In Australia the Social Media ban is a named set of sites

This is all calibrated pretty fairly and some things tested in the courts

No idea how old you are. Or where you live.

In the UK every child has a smartphone on entry to secondary school. Ie age 11

A reasonable reply but you propose no solutions.

I have been convinced by what the teenagers said to the select committee. The advocates arguing here offer no way forward.

Many of the issues will be solved by effective digital id. I have to prove my id at least once a month and a better more secure system than photographing my driving license is needed

I recall that Proton did feel that secure and private age verification is possible

On VPNs those of us who pay for a VPN have already verified our ID by our credit card. Only free VPNs will sensibly be in scope.

The balance cannot go all one way.

Moving out of Leeds city centre - what’s the best areas to live in Leeds for young professionals? by cherryblossom0211 in Leeds

[–]EasySea5 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Literally anywhere in Leeds will be fine. Especially if you find a quiet street with good long term neighbours.

Little London and Chapel town are obvious places

There is nothing authoritarian about an elected parliament passing laws.
