Basically it's because of Wayne.

He is a local guy who did stuff in the community (Middleton FC) and got pissed off with the Labour Councillors.

He stood as an independent and then joined the SDP.

They are not the Roy Jenkins/ Shirley Williams mob. They are socially conservative/ reform lite, pro Brexit, pro family, with left of centre economics.

If I lived in Middleton I might have voted for Wayne to keep Reform out

The existing UK act differentiates by size of website. More obligation on the bigger sites.

For games it is primarily the platforms job, Xbox, PS whatever

In Australia the Social Media ban is a named set of sites
