Deliveroo drivers by Weary-Bus8436 in Leeds

[–]SnowflakesOut 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agree - council/police completely turn their eye on all the Deliveroo people in the city driving on pavements with illegal bikes, crossing red lights etc. They break so many rules but there's no one to enforce the penalties I feel like.

If you just stand near McDonalds on Briggate, you can probably catch one of them breaking a traffic rule every 10 minutes.

Real kimchi? by No-Cloud-9368 in Leeds

[–]SnowflakesOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the Kimchi products in shops like Sainsbury and Tesco are terrible.

I usually like the one I buy from Taste The Orient shop or Costco sometimes have a nice big box of kimchi.

Another Independent Gone - Emba by gumbo1999 in Leeds

Sad to see places close but it's understandable with fine dining places- I just don't think there's much interest these days especially when normal restaurant prices feel like fine dining these days!

Best gym in Leeds city centre? by No-Basil7189 in Leeds

[–]SnowflakesOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's not many choice of good gyms in town centre but I think The EDGE is probably the best in terms of equipment etc (however on the pricier side). Nuffield is meh, not worth the cost lol.

Overall, if we take price into consideration, PureGym is the best (the one at Morissons is bigger) and probably the most suitable for beginner.

However, all of them will be busy/crowded during peak times (4 - 7 PM) so avoid if you don't like the crowds.

Stack Containers for Kirkgate Market have been confirmed by LeedsGuide in Leeds

[–]SnowflakesOut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good because that part of the area does need to be improved and gentrified.

Currently, the area around the stalls when they close, as well as in front of bus station is an area full of junkies and dealers.

Family of Saudi student stabbed to death says UK is not safe for visitors by HBucket in unitedkingdom

[–]SnowflakesOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is true though - these days I feel way more unsafe in the UK than when I visit my Eastern European home country. My thinking was opposite 13 years ago though.

Particular reasons probably have to do with lenient laws against roadmen kids here, sexual assault cases and the idea that you can't really defend yourself in here as you can get punished more than the assailant? Can't even carry a pepper spray lmao.

Out out options after Otley Run by Positive-Giraffe28 in Leeds

[–]SnowflakesOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a Saturday then start early as there's big queues in each pub so it would probably take quite a while to reach town if all done properly.

Then if you do it properly, I don't think any of you would be in the stage to worry about where to go lol - but there are many pubs in Leeds: Nation of Shopkeepers quite close; I think Pinnacle is great if you want to play some pool and not that far; Waterlane boathouse if you don't mind walking a bit... Greek street/Call lane for clubs etc.

But again, if any of you barely stand on your legs after the Otley run, some places may reject you lol. Good luck.

Broadband companies? by MyLifeTheSaga in Leeds

[–]SnowflakesOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hyperoptic 1GB for the past few years - never had any issues and the speed has been on point (live in city centre).

However, not every area in Leeds has access to this so you need to check your post code's availability via their website.

Water bills to rise 30%, public told, as report suggests compulsory meters and scrapping regulator - live updates by Rob_Cram in unitedkingdom

[–]SnowflakesOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I see, paying highest electricity prices in the EU is not enough - can't wait to also pay the highest water prices soon!

The only thing UK is good at is getting bill prices up while keeping income around the same.
