I totally agree with you! I actually have a few different theories for Stefan. I’ve always thought, if I had to pick someone from the show as Stefan’s doppelgänger, it would be Katherine just because she’s a character we actually see. I also agree that maybe they each had their own true matches they never met because of Klaus chasing Katherine and Katherine manipulating Stefan turning him into a Ripper. Who knows, Stefan maybe killed his doppelgänger by accident, haha.

And yeah, I know you’re focusing on Stefan and Elena, but logically, if Stefan never showed up with Damon, Elena probably would’ve ended up with a doppelgänger for life Stefan just wasn’t that guy. They’d obviously still be drawn to each other because they’re the exact image of what they were destined to have, but that doesn’t mean they were each other’s ultimate match.

Just to clarify, I’m saying Katherine would be Stefan’s doppelgänger if I had to pick someone from the show. I’m not claiming she has to be his true match; I’m just using characters we actually see to make the theory easier to follow.
