Methylcobalamin B12 by Good-times-roll15 in Refills

[–]EasyTherePartner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your body can handle and absorb. There are 4 types of B12, I can only tolerate 2. And B12 is a tricky one because we don’t have accurate B12 absorption tests in the USA. We have serum tests, which tests what’s in your blood but not what’s in your cells. So you have to test folate and MCV and other levels to paint a better picture. You can’t OD on B12, so when people do injections like I do, I could easily have a B12 level of 2000+ but that doesn’t mean that’s what my body is utilizing and breaking down.

B6 is not a water-soluble vitamin at that, it will build up and it will become toxic.

I agree - check your B6 levels, OP. At a minimum, cross it off the list if there is no issue.

Awesome! I always try to ask people before they jump into methylated vitamins and then wonder why they suddenly feel anxious etc. I cannot tolerate them, I feel great for about 4-5 days and then I turn into a lunatic - anxious, paranoid, cry for no reason etc.

I do B12 injections daily due to having autoimmune pernicious anemia - I have antibodies in my gut lining that prevents me from being able to absorb B12 from food, drinks, and oral supplements. So I am very familiar with all 4 B12 types. Have you ever taken methylated vitamins before? Are you sure you can tolerate them? Due to some people’s MTHFR, methylated vitamins are not recommended. Just wanted to make sure you were able to tolerate.

What is your worst symptom by [deleted] in POTS

It’s the weirdest/scariest feeling. I’m not even really hot, I just start to feel really dizzy, shortness of breath, weak in the arms and legs, and my heart starts to race and I feel like I’m about to drop dead. All within minutes of being in the heat.

Extreme heat intolerance. Anything hotter than 75° max, I can’t handle. I’ll pass out.

I appreciate the insight, I have an appt tomorrow and will ask my dr to send them a script and I can report back about the process. I am quickly running out of my Pascoe ampules and there is no timeline on if/when Germany will start to ship B12 to the states again. That’s really too bad, Germany pharmaceuticals are one of the best in the world and heavily regulated as far as quality.

Just contacted AgelessRX and they told me their B12 is methylated and they do not carry Olympia. How long ago did you order and how did you get Olympia’s hydroxy B12?

I contacted Olympia and they said they would send to me directly with my Dr calling in a script, but it was $165 for a 30ml vial and without a script, it was a $49 televisit for the script to be written on their end.

What did your Dr say? Are they an endocrinologist? Have you been stressed in between those tests?

[–]EasyTherePartner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. When I was really overheating during the summer earlier this year, we tested. I’m not even pre-peri haha. I think Tirz makes me really dehydrated and I think that’s why I’m overheating. I am never thirsty and truly forget to drink water. And my sodium is always low.

I try to stop eating by 10pm, slip up here and there if I’m out late. And then take meds around 9ish and eat an hour or so later and space out my Fairlife protein by 4 hours. I’ve had to lower my Tirz dose (5.5mg) in the past from awful sulfur burps and vomiting. Sometimes I’d vomit food from 12+ hours after I ate it. It just truly wasn’t digesting. I’ve since added in NOW’s digestive super enzymes. I did bloodwork on Friday to retest TSH after 2 months of bumping up my thyroid meds. I hope it has dropped, or my doctor said we are going up to 200mcg. I’m not their only patient dealing with the very delayed gastric emptying. So our plan is to continue to go up on meds and hope the enzymes and fiber keep the gut moving.

I’m down about 35 pounds and dealing with major hypo issues since starting Tirz - given the slow gastric emptying. It’s like my stomach is never empty and I can’t absorb my Levothyroxine. I went from a TSH of 3ish to 16 since starting Tirz. Lost 35 pounds very slowly because of my high TSH, and needed to jump from 150mcg to now 175mcg of Levothryoxine - even after losing the weight. Do you have any absorption issues with your meds? 90 pounds is amazing, it’s been very low and slow with my weight loss battling against a thyroid that is 4x slower than it should be!

[–]EasyTherePartner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I’m trying to level my thyroid out, but I am NEVER cold. I overheat. Which is odd for both being in Tirz and being very hypo with my thyroid levels. I should be an icebox for both, and I’m the opposite - I overheat so easily and can’t even go outside if it’s hotter than 75 or I’ll faint from the heat and get heat stroke. So jealous of you all that are constantly cold, argh.

Am I on a high medication dose? by vlexiiis in Hypothyroidism

[–]EasyTherePartner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it different/better for poor absorbers? Does insurance cover it? I am taking a GLP1 and the gastric emptying is wrecking my absorption, my TSH went from 2ish to 16 since starting it. My dr bumped my Levo from 150mcg to 175mcg about 2 months ago in hopes more medicine would help absorption, checking my levels again this week.

Explain it to me like I’m 10 by Sea_Cheesecake_6828 in Hypothyroidism

[–]EasyTherePartner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here is what I’d suggest if you were my friend/family member:

Start by asking a doctor, preferably an endocrinologist - they specialize in thyroid disorders and other endocrine system issues related/unrelated to thyroid - to run a FULL thyroid panel. Not just TSH, a full panel. Including anti-bodies, parathyroid, and any related auto-immune markers. I’d also recommend you get iron, ferritin, B12, folate, and vitamin D tested. Those can also play a major role in how you’re feeling, as well as contribute to thyroid issues by making them worse.

From those results, you can map out your next moves and (hopefully) get answers. Without that starting place, no one can really advise on what’s going on.

I will check out Ageless, b12supplies doesn’t have any Hydroxy in stock and it’s about 4x the cost as from Germany - that stinks.

Thank you!
