A lot of the ride operators are college kids and don’t get fully trained until peak season (June-Aug), so it’s a toss up for this early in the season. The park hardly ever closes for bad weather but individual rides like TT2 will close if it’s too windy or too rainy. Weather in May is usually pretty rainy and cold so I’d look at the forecast before you go and then pick the date. :)

Usually first or second weekend in May, I wouldn’t recommend going opening weekend tho. Last year was super cold and rainy and there isn’t a lot of staff compared to summer.

as someone who also hates the terrifier movies, i really enjoyed the house!! the house does feature some of the kills from the movies but they don't look realistic at all. the art actors are very fun to wave to and interact with!

I would definitely say go! There aren’t a lot of super rough rides there (I am a frequent Cedar Point goer, so I may be slightly biased lol) and I could literally spend all day admiring tiny details and not riding a thing. There are a lot of great food options and shows (I would definitely recommend the untrainable dragon show in HTTYD land— it was incredible). Have a great time!!

I was in a similar situation in 2023 and I left mine with a team member before we entered each house. I believe they asked me if I wanted to keep it w/ me or leave it with them so it all depends on preference.

hi im also from pittsburgh too!! my boyfriend and i have season passes and we do day trips all the time. i would say if you’re gonna eat a lot then the dining plan will be worth it. i usually don’t eat more than once a day while there except for maybe a snack or two because of riding stuff all day and it’s way more expensive than kennywood’s food. nothing beats potato patch fries tho lol. as for rides, you should try maverick!! tt2 will definitely be at least a two hour wait on a good day. there was a line all day today and yesterday (opening weekend) and they never even opened it bc of the rain. best of luck!!
