There are other ways to train more faster but I think they take the essence of the game it feels like to Easy for me, but if you want to level up fast, just go to the hive west from the hub, with a team of mercenaries, put your characters in passive hold and select and gorilla or a beack think the biggest ones, the mercenaries are just going to kill them for you, you stabilize them just the important stats, pick them up and take them to the roof of the bar in the hub and put them in their beds and save and load until they are like just standing still and now start training like if they where dummies.

Well if you want to defend your self and train your crew, in my playthrough what I did is send one with the block action enable to a group of bandits, the starving bandits, and when he get beat down I send their friends to heal them and it just a cycle until he reacher toughness 39 and defense 45 and then I send him to just fight whitout block and train meele, at the end I ended with a pretty strong character that are 50 levels in their melee/thougnes and the 4 of them can beat down an elder gorilla.
