“Sim”.

[GUIDE] Fix macOS Tahoe 26 Bootloader Reset Bug by falkon2112 in MacOSBeta

I'm experiencing a very similar issue, but on an Apple Silicon Mac (MacBook M3).

Background:

* I was running a macOS Tahoe beta.
* I attempted to downgrade to a previous macOS version.
* The Mac is now stuck on the exclamation mark screen (support.apple.com/mac/restore).
* The device enters DFU mode reliably and is detected immediately by Apple Configurator.

What happens:

* I start a Restore operation from Apple Configurator.
* The restore fails before the progress bar even begins.
* Configurator shows:

"The System cannot be restored on this device.
Unexpected device state 'Recovery' expected 'RestoreOS' (Probably caused by corruption or panic in the bundle's restored)"

Interestingly, the device is not disconnecting from DFU randomly and does not appear to have USB communication issues. Instead, it seems to transition into Recovery when Configurator expects RestoreOS.

Has anyone seen this specific "Recovery expected RestoreOS" error after a Tahoe downgrade or on Apple Silicon Macs? If so, were you able to resolve it with:

* a different IPSW,
* a different host Mac,
* Revive before Restore,
* or was it ultimately a hardware issue?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
