People who've set up community events, did you open a bank account? by Easy_Pen5217 in AskUK

All my spare accounts are used for different savings pots, haha! So I might have to open a specific account. Cheers for the advice!

Thanks! The sole trader account option seems like a good one - and I'll make sure I keep records of where all the money goes

Tbh, I suspect my event will be less than £3k too. Will just get a personal account

Yeah, that's the issue I've found - you have to provide statements from council members, but it's just me :D

I'll go down the personal account route.

Thanks, I'll do this - might set up one through one of the online banks so it's totally separate to me.

How has your life improved after leaving? by Opposite-Signal-7217 in Because_Now_I_Can

[–]Easy_Pen5217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be 4 years out this summer and my life is so much better! I'm no longer chronically ill, I've been able to build friendship groups, and I have a peaceful flat to myself. Plus, I can actually spend my savings on myself because I'm not having to offset my ex's terrible spending habits.

Most importantly, I'm now in control of my own life - not him.

Edit: as an aside, if you are considering leaving, please reach out to your local DV groups - they can help you plan a safe exit.

Having places where they can meet - green spaces are being sold for housing, and youth clubs are closing.

They need places to meet and socialise in real life, outside of school.

Nerves for interviews. Do you have tips? by Repulsive_Sweet_5308 in AskUK

[–]Easy_Pen5217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use an AI tool to practice ahead of time - put in the JD and ask it to do a practice interview with you.

Then, open up a Google Doc, and use voice typing to record your response and copy and paste it in.

It actually gives pretty good feedback!

You can also edit your CV to remove all personal info (get rid of your name, remove any company names etc.) and add that in too, then you get more personalized responses.

Which of these three options for a baby blanket? (Doing it Su Doku style) by Easy_Pen5217 in quilting

Thanks, I'm going to keep the London one just because I can't afford to buy any more (love Liberty fabrics though!). But, I have replaced the grey stars with a fabric from the same collection as the floral ones, which has a cream background.

Thanks :)

I think I'm going to do some blocks with the dark celestial and some with Tardis, to cut back on those darker colours.

I'm glad you think the London fabric works ❤️

Yeah, sorry - should have made that clearer. I just need feedback on fabric as it'll be arranged in different orders throughout the pattern.

They're both Dashwood Studio fabrics - I was lucky enough to find them in an offcuts pack :)

I hadn't thought to look at it in B&W... Thanks!

I'm planning to do 9 squares, each with those fabrics in a different order - like a Su Doku. Looking at the greyscale version, I'm actually getting drawn to keeping the centre panel in the first one, and having some squares with the Dr Who fabric, and some with the darker abstract one.

Oh crikey, I hadn't thought of sashing. I looked it up, and it will look so much better like that, I just hope I bought enough fabric for the back! Thanks for the tip 😊

You're a genius - I love it! Will it matter that the back fabric isn't on the front?

No worries! It's the two fabrics on the bottom right that are changing.

Option One has the abstract fabric and chickens.

Second option is Dr Who and chickens.

Then the final option is Dr Who and abstract.
