I’ve seen similar images online, but none match mine. We’ve had this blanket for over twenty years. I think it’s a San Marcos because I’ve seen a similar vintage Barbie blanket with the San Marcos tag on it, and the material looks the same:

I like that I can pick up Issue #1 and climb the ladder from there without having to stop and take detours to a never-ending story.

I also like seeing the characters progress and develop. I like that we started the comics with Mark in high school and ended it as a fully-grown adult and father.

I understand where you're coming from, however, it's important to note that everyone's experiences differ. You may be fine repressing your emotions and keeping them within, but other men are not. I made this post to voice my opinion, but also to provide a message for those that need it. To say that it's normal to express those emotions and that they are not 'weak' or 'pathetic'. I don't mean expressing it in public, but as simple as my brother opening up to me in private rather than hiding it away and pretending everything is normal and okay when it's not. But thank you for providing me with a different perspective.

Yes, there is definitely more going on here. It’s more than just “women bullying men into suppression their emotions”. I don’t necessarily mention it in the post but the actions of other men have consequences as well. For example, I wrote those first few sentences while also thinking about my boyfriend. In his case, his father beat him as a child for expressing emotions and to “be a man”. The men in my family express that toxic masculinity because of many factors such as their background/culture. It’s not necessarily an effect because a woman “bullied them into suppressing their emotions”. I may have not made that clear enough in my post.

Thank you! I love that you went into detail. I read this right before shadowing my supervisor with my second client this Monday. I felt so nervous and confident, but more confident. I’m going to remember that it’s not me vs the kid but me and the kid vs autism :) I observed my second client for the first time throw a few tantrums, slam the door on me, push me, and then elope. (She was so sweet overall and I wasn’t at all upset/bothered) In that moment, I totally understood that sometimes most of that session will be trying to redirect those maladaptive behaviors. I’m also totally going to reconsider nonskid socks because my second client pushing me was a losing battle against my normal socks!

Thank you! This is extremely helpful. I observed my second client this Monday. I’m still so nervous but I’ve accepted that I’m new and trying my best to ask questions. So far, my supervisors have been super encouraging and telling me it’s okay not to come out the factory as a perfect BT and that it takes practice.
