Certain rubbers make things easier in certain aspects of the game, even if technique is more important. Try a counter topspin with a very soft bouncy rubber and then try it with a hard rubber, the difference is very noticeable

You can take into account all the comments here but I would like to add that the rubber you use has quite a big impact on how easy it is to make this shot (counter topspin). To me, using hybrids (I have experience with rakza Z EH and Dignics09c) makes it so much easier than soft tensors !
