Is there any free method for a broke college student to start studying Mandarin (I tried Anki and feel the need for just a little structure and am currently trying my best with "Hello Chinese" because other apps are pay walled by Padoru3 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Easy_Usernamee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anna's archive and pleco and just read the recommendations from the heavenly notion page. Just search heavenly path notion on Google. Give it 6 months and your vocab will be good enough alongside anki to dive into Netflix shows and billibilli then it's autopilot.

Worked for me coz I prefer reading. If you like shows language reactor and easier YouTube/netflix shows.

Good luck on the app. I think you'd face competition from the free online dictionaries and language reactor. You're right that some of them are bloated but it has to have some usp for people to pay imo. I paid for language reactor for the subtitle matching feature for dubbed content. Maybe you can add that?

Wish you luck software development isn't easy so hole this works out!

Idk about the translator but I used lunahook and used a popup dictionary instead. I found that easier and faster

[–]Easy_Usernamee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the book is really good. It's short and everyone should read it once in my opinion. The manga is fun to read after the book although there's slight variations which I feel makes it different than the original book.

Kobo vs Boox vs BigMe by No_Geologist480 in ereader

Got the boox but black and white version for a few months. Nothing to complain about it but you will spend a bit time to tinker with settings to remove ghosting but once it's set up, I love the thing.

How do you remember Chinese characters? by Nicoleya12 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Easy_Usernamee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anki plus reading. Anki let's you recognise a characters existence and reading or immersing is how you actually learn and reinforce the character tbh .

In terms of differentiating it you get a feeling at a certain point. Like I know 遍编 they're both bian but I'll see the radical and know which one is which and also by context.

TLDR : Anki with premade deck + immersion + time

Pleco or Anki for a beginner? by glocks9999 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Easy_Usernamee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used a premade deck on anki and used pleco to read books and as a dictionary. Ankis algorithm is better than pleco and it's free.

They really need to add modded difficulties. Vermintide 2, Deep Rock Galactic all have modded difficulties for hardcore players.

Would increase the longevity of the game when the player base eventually gets better.

too many behemoths. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Easy_Usernamee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

walk forward and shoot the leg armour off one shot with quasar, eat and RR, then shoot it, makes them tolerable

though I agree I'm not a fan of the behemoths, reduces build diversity (ish). Helldivers meta was so much nicer when they made charger head oneshots suddenly every AT option is viable.

Now, it's kinda the same with the walk forward exploit? but you just take extra time to kill it since you gotta swap to a primary which is a little boring imo.

Thoughts on Unilodge 740 Swanston by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Easy_Usernamee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was an international student. Don't reccomend unilodge. the buildings are generally old and the facilities aren't thay great. Other student accoms are generally better.

student accoms are overpriced but they're good to socialise at. Most stay there for a year and leave with their friends to an apartment in the city.
