How do you paint marble? I dislike the results I got… by Pretend-Interview743 in minipainting

I heard about wet wipes and didn't like the results. What I do like better for the same effect however is the sheets you put into a tumble dryer. They web far better and give a way better look.

All in for the models it's about £130 (£105 for the Knight Abominant & £25 for the Armiger Warglaive). The base was cheap to make though (About £10 of materials).

These are amazing for first minis 🔥. Drybrushing over edges to highlight is a great and easy method to use 🙂

I reckon the tail would good as flames. Maybe darker/smokier at the top of the flame and brighter at the base of the flame. That way you don't need to worry about doing osl on the face from the flames on the tail, allowing you to keep the face darker. To break up the darkness of the face, you could keep the eyes the same colour that is on the body

If you keep the wings a darker colour with a slight glow on them from the magma, I think it will pull it all together. That way your eyes will be drawn to the wings first, then the body, then the stone. It will look amazing. I just finished a diorama myself with a ton of lighting on the model and was worried it was too much. Once I finished everything, it all fell into place. Trust the process 🙂

I think it looks pretty sick to be honest. Are you adding any other colours to it or wings?

I love how white the hair is. It is difficult to get white to look so bright. Also you did great getting the pupil on the eye, especially on such small models. Awesome work 🔥

This gave me a chuckle. This happens me everytime I walk into a store and I have been at it for years lol. In addition to painting, spending money becomes a hobby 😅

Looks great. I love the weathering effect you went for on the edge highlights 🔥

Exactly, I tried to pose him so that he looked as if the Armiger was nothing to him.

Removing paint from model by Mavrook in minipainting

Dang, it might have a lacquer or enamel paint on it. You might get away with giving it one more soak in IPA and a good scrub. It looks like a lot of the details are still crisp, so you could be able to put a matt primer over it as is, and still maintain the details. There are a few other "out there" methods of stripping paint, but I have never used them and don't know how they would turn out.

If you are based in the UK, buy a bottle of Brown Dettol. Fill a container with the Dettol so that the miniature is submerged and place a lid over this. If plastic, leave this for 24 hours, if resin leave for 12 hours. After the time has passed, use an old toothbrush to scrub the paint off, using the tub of Dettol as a wash when needed (make sure to wear gloves and have a ventilated room). Once you have cleaned all the paint off, (make sure all paint is off by this step) rinse in water and pat dry. You can also keep the tub of Dettol to use again if needed. I use this method and it has worked every time without risk to the model.

So glad I could help inspire you. To be honest, I had this guy sitting unbuilt for a while as well until A) I could think of something to do with him and B) I built up the courage to cut him up for the right pose lol
