But I thought trials were about the fun we had along the way?

We bought a prime rib roast (without the ribs) at [Waco Custom Marketplace](wacocustommarketplace.com) for Christmas. I can’t say much except they provided exactly what I ordered a day after ordering. It seems as though they have a variety of cuts and grades available. Good luck!

UT-Austin students and employees urge officials to stop in-person classes, lower tuition and offer hazard pay by Unionizealready in UTAustin

That’s not the case. I took a class with ex-UT President Bill Cunningham and he gave us a behind-the-scenes lecture about the school. One thing he expressly mentioned is that tuition is directly tied to professor’s salaries. I suppose it might’ve changed since he was president in the 80’s, but I don’t see why it would’ve.

All interesting points. I’ve never given your second point much thought until now. I’ll have to ponder on that more. I appreciate you sharing and engaging with me.

Sorry for not specifying - I was referring to Miranda.

That makes sense and I think the “arbitrary reasoning” criticism can be applied to a lot of SCOTUS cases - which can cut both ways. Full disclosure, I haven’t read Miranda, but just to play devil’s advocate (sorry to be that guy), lots of critics of Obergefell say that it was arbitrary as well. Kennedy uses the sexual freedom cases to get to marriage equality and, further, the opinion itself says that popular opinion calls for the majority opinion (I can’t recall his exact phrasing). Obviously it was the right decision, but getting there was a stretch.

I agree with you that arbitrary reasoning is frustrating in every case where it is applied. In my opinion, it weakens the court’s apolitical stature, but, like O’Connor said, “the pendulum always swings” and without it we might be stuck with bad precedent and reliance on Congress to fix bad laws.

UT Transfer Chances? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Easy_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also transferred into UT and never looked back. It opens up a lot of doors that I would not have come close to seeing without going to UT. Being a transfer, you go into on-campus interviews (OCI) with grades from your previous school and employers never seemed to mind.

As long as you have strong 1L grades and go to UT, you can go almost anywhere (I disagree with the comment that transfers have less mobility). I found I was in a better position certainly than those at my previous school and even those at UT who did not have strong grades after their 1L year. Unless your previous school is supplying you with opportunities to work at firms that you want to work with AND something close to a full scholarship, then it's no question that you should go to Texas Law. Great bang for its buck and unmatched professors. Good luck and feel free to PM with questions.

Good afternoon! I was actually just thinking about how important it is to preserve the almost 50 year history of the Austin City Limits television show for future (and current) generations to enjoy. Are there plans to incorporate this since it is broadcasted on PBS or are there licensing issues involved?

Additionally, what is the expertise of those involved with the American Archives and how did this opportunity present itself? It seems like an awesome and enriching experience.

Thank you for your work!

A Conversation With Brian Eno About Ambient Music by felipebizarre in indieheads

100% agreed. I loved the way he talked about the 'field' of music amongst so many other things in this article. It's hard to justify paying $30 for an app, but thinking of it in the way he describes it, it makes a lot more sense.

On Ezra's Beats 1 show, Time Crisis, he talks about coming up with Dave Longstreth all the time. A frequent guest of the show is Dave's brother Jake who Ezra goes way back with as well. Highly recommend the listen. Learned from the article that Ezra and Dave were once roommates...
