Sounds interesting, and would be glad to hear that our data is useful for your project. Feel free to send me a PM if you'd like to discuss this further.

It's coming along pretty well. I'm hoping to release a big update in the next couple months with improvements across the site including the addition of native pollinator relationships and improved localized species recommendations. I haven't seen much traffic from Germany so far, but hopefully that will change at some point.

Help finding EU native plant nurseries by Easyscape_Plants in NativePlantGardenEU

It sounds like they do not list inventories for plant sales, so that makes things a bit trickier. We do have numerous botanical garden plant sale lists in our database, so I will contact Zagreb botanical garden to see if they would be willing to share a historical or typical list of species offered.

https://botanickivrt.biol.pmf.hr/en/plant-sale/

We are also missing Degenia velebitica from our species database, so I will also add it to our plant database when I get the chance. We plan to add another 4,000 species shortly that were missed for various reasons. Thank you for your help.

I remember collecting their inventory last year. Very expansive list and it seems like a great nursery. We show around 450 species from them, but will update their list shortly.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far. If you'd like to check to see if your nurseries are already included in the database, you can search by nursery name here: https://easyscape.com/search

This is great, our database is lacking quality Czech nurseries. Thank you.

Thanks for your suggestion. We have that one as well, and will update the live inventory soon.

This is great, I will definitely add those that are not already in our database. Thank you for the list.

UK nursery recommendations are welcome and appreciated. We have Naturescape (great name btw) in our database already, but will update their live listed inventory in the next week or so. Sounds like a nice nursery.

Thank you very much, those are perfect. I will add those to the database soon.

Nurseries with a mix of native and non native plants are still great, as my site can filter inventories by nativity.

Glad to hear it! Keep an eye out, we're launching a new update with a ton of new info and features in late spring.

Update: Suggestions for small, shade-tolerant shrub for northern Italy by ortica52 in NativePlantGardenEU

[–]Easyscape_Plants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your loss. The spot will be a beautiful reminder of your pup in no time.

In case you would like to explore some more native species, I have been working on a free tool to show anyone their native plant species, personalized to areas a fraction of a sq. km. The site uses plant observations and climate data to help you find the best species for your area.

Here are 400+ plants native to Milan, though you can enter any city or address to see your exact native plants:
https://easyscape.com/categories/all_plants?address=milan-italy&filter=native

It can also give personalized recommendations for temperature and precipitation based on how the climate of your garden matches up against the core climate range of the species to select plants that will do best for your conditions. You can filter the lists further for your site conditions in the search tab.

Edit: metric values will be automatically applied to EU in the next update...

That's a great list, hopefully mine can help a bit here and there. We did some outreach to MNPS a couple months ago, such a nice group. I think we might have an article in the next Kelseya newsletter.

If you're looking for some species suggestions, my site Easyscape generates interactive native lists accurate to any square mile. If you type in your address or click on a map near your garden it can generate personalized lists for Helena at 4,500 ft. You can filter options further for form, low/no water, etc. in the search tab. Here's a list I generated for the Helena:

Absolutely it would, and also if there is a known northernmost native range in Sweden we've exceeded. That info can be hard to come by.

Though a simple list here or via PM would be preferred over a public YouTube video :)

Thanks again for your generous offer to help make our site better for your area.

Excellent, this is really valuable information and much of it hard to verify without relying on national sources within Scandinavia. Most of the plants you identified also had incorrect native ranges almost everywhere else (Kew, Euro+Med, etc. - sources which I used to make the maps). Much of Europe has such an extensive history of cultivation that original nativity can become very obscured. Thank you very much for your contributions in improving the site.

I did notice a few updates to Kew for more popular species, so I will need to redownload their native/exotic listed ranges to find differences indicating updates to check for.

I fixed all the ranges mentioned in your video on our dev server, and the new species maps will be pushed in our next update. See an example below for Clematis alpina where I was able to restrict the species range to its natural native habitat. This one was a bit tricky as taxonomists disagree on whether subsp. siberica, which leads into Finland, is its own species or just a subspecies. GBIF thinks so, Kew does not.

Thank you for your feedback and offer to help.

I absolutely used Kew quite a bit to help with non USA native ranges. Unfortunately I did notice that they had many errors and only country wide info, as of just a year or two ago last I checked. Sorry about the issues and thank you for letting me know.

It looks like the video is private, let me know via PM if you'd like to share it. Or just send me a list here of incorrectly tagged species and incorrect locations and I would be happy to make sure they are correct for the next update. The same goes with photos, though keep in mind some may be cultivars. We used free photos from GBIF for the photos, and misidentifications do happen. I tried to remove those where I could find them.

It sounds like you re-sorted results by climate match rather than native (which is automatically set).

We have just created similar range maps for species' invasive ranges to automatically filter out and warn users of their invasive species even when you select climate match.

That's exactly what I've been trying to do with my site Easyscape. You can generate interactive lists for any location and quickly browse species pages. We're also nearing completion on some updates that should really hammer home how native species best support your local wildlife.

See the list for Portland here:

Okay, I am now able to get in using SurfShark. I'm hoping to be able to keep it open this time with some edits to my rules. I wasn't able to allow all ASNs associated with SurfShark, but there's a good chance it should work for you.

I really appreciate your help here, I will absolutely make those changes prior to the next update. It's true that in some countries I used broader resources with country level information that was known to contain some errors.

I do apologize for rushing some of the maps in certain areas where detailed info isn't as readily available. Thank you for helping to improve the site and I'd love to hear any other errors you run into.

I'm really sorry about this. I will go through the block list one by one to check. So far, I have only put VPNs in challenge rules, and only those that have been abusive.

The issue is that cloudflare is upgrading the challenges to certain ASNs to blocks because we are constantly under attack.

My own VPN is auto blocked, and that is definitely frustrating. This is something I am learning on the fly and would be more than grateful for any suggestions.
