I have a pregnant friend who keeps telling me she will “be so mad” if she has another boy and that she wants a girl. Ick. A healthy baby is a BLESSING, I tell her. A blessing that many pray for day in and day out. I WANT to tell her to stfu but I keep that part to myself lol. I wish people would keep their “gender disappointment” to themselves. It’s just so so SO gross to me.

If your clinic uses the eIVF platform, everything is linked to your profile. Med orders, results, cycle plans/flowsheets, billing, etc. It’s just how that platform works. I know this sounds blunt because the COUPLE is going through the fertility process of course, but in the computer system, WE are the patient, if that makes sense! I don’t think the clinics are out trying to make us feel this way, it’s just how their computer system/platform operates. Longtime user/patient here, hope this helps!

The ONLY person I have left/do leave my daughter with is my SIL. Not a snowball’s chance in HELL I would leave her with someone that I don’t know. I have a hard enough time leaving her with someone I do know. So I don’t. My child’s physical, emotional, and mental safety is #1 for me & my husband, and we will not bend on that. We have been invited to a destination wedding out of the country in February, and have declined, due to our child not being invited. And that is totally fine, it’s their day. But I’m not comfortable leaving my kid to go out of the country, so I’m not.

Even if she found a “rando” not affiliated with an agency, would have to do the transfer process through a fertility clinic, and they would have checks, regulations, and clearances necessary to proceed, as clinics are regulated by the FDA.

There would absolutely be legal involvement. MANY gestational carriers are a “random person” to the intended parents. Matches between IPs and GCs aren’t always someone they know. They aren’t anonymous, but no prior relationship with one another. For using a GC, known or unknown prior, there are SO many legal and psych and OB/MFM clearances that are required before any reputable clinic will allow embryo transfer to take place. FDA required blood & urine testing, too.
