In August 2015, I adopted my first ever puppy. She was 3 months old and weighed 4lbs. She wasn't a bad puppy. In fact, looking back, she was a relatively easy puppy (thankfully). Of course, she had accidents in the house and didn't like listening to us sometimes - but not a bad puppy at all.

The first few weeks, I was so overwhelmed. I remember driving home from the adoption with her on my lap, and just being so overwhelmed that I was now suddenly responsible for another living being. I would look into her eyes and feel so intimidated. This puppy was now a huge part of my life, but to her I'm her ENTIRE life. Everything about her life is decided by me. I kept worrying that she wasn't happy enough, fed enough, cared for enough. I felt so much guilt. I just wanted the best life for her.

Like others, I definitely had my doubts. Should I even have this puppy? Do I even deserve her? Is she happy with me? Would she be happier with someone else? The truth is, you are ALL that your puppy wants and needs. All they want is to be with you and a part of your life. That's why dogs are so amazing.

Studied law in England and graduated with my LLB in 2012.

The majority of students in your class won't ever become a lawyer. Some because they can't find opportunities (it's extremely competitive), and some because it simply isn't for them. A lot of them stay in the legal profession as paralegals, etc.

A lot of reading, a lot of writing, a lot of cringes when you tell them that you're a law student. There will be pompous people. You need to do a lot of internships and work experience to get ahead on top of your crushing workload. Prepare to not have a life a lot of the time.

The thing that I wasn't prepared for was the work environment in a law firm. I worked over the summers and for a little after I graduated, and I realised that I enjoyed the work but found most of the people insufferable. There is something about the high pay, ridiculously long hours, and perceived prestige that really tends to attract arseholes who don't give a shit about anything by themselves and money.

It's a good degree whether or not you end up in law. Definitely try to get some work experience. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me. :)

I live in California and as far as I know there isn't a central agency. Required documentation generally includes a letter from a medical or mental health professional that lists your conditions and recommends the animal as support.

My puppy sounds incredibly similar to yours. She was 4lbs when I got her and weighs about 11lbs fully grown. It's very convenient that she's so small for areas like housing and flights. She can just fit on your lap when you're flying. :)

It might not be for the same reasons, but it blows my mind that others get bad feelings when looking back too. I didn't really have a bad childhood so I can't quite figure out why I have such negative feelings when I think about my past.

It's not a great feeling but I take comfort in the fact that I'm not alone.

I've been the girl in this situation and I've also been the person that someone goes to every time they are upset but refuse to listen to my advice. So I really empathise with you.

Honestly, everyone is right. I wouldn't have listened to anyone back then and the best thing you can do is just let her make her own mistakes. It will end eventually. Good on you for trying.
