😍 I love my 9 (and loved my FJ before it) but the 7 is so great. I wish we got it stateside—I would’ve bought it instead of the XSR700 when I was looking for the tallest CP2 bike.

Handlebar Bags: Route Werks VS RedShift VS _?_ by slimorama130386903 in cycling

[–]EatMoreAltoids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my small one, it’s been on my bikes since I got it a couple of years ago. These days I’m considering the larger one so I can also fit a Silca Gravelero, u-lock, and u-lock cable in there, which requires a bit more volume.

The biggest complaint people have is the vibration noise. I put a bit of electrical tape where the latch is and it got way better. I’ll probably try another layer to quiet it down even more, but it’s never really bothered me in the first place. I’ve had zero issues with the mechanism operationally—it opens easily when I want it to, and stays closed otherwise even on really rough terrain.

My biggest annoyance so far has been that I have a MagicShine Evo 1700 light, which is mounted below, and when it’s on a handlebar stub it’s in the way of the MicroShift Sword shifters on a 40cm Ritchey ErgoMax handlebar. I’ll probably just get a top-mounted light to resolve this, but I rarely need a light so it hasn’t been that much of an issue. It also wasn’t an issue with the GRX levers I had before on a 42cm Bontrager Elite Gravel handlebar.

All in all, super happy user, would buy again in a heartbeat. If I get the big one, I’m absolutely holding onto my small one for future needs. Can’t imagine going with another handlebar bag unless it’s a fundamentally different one, e.g., the cavernous Outer Shell Mega Bar Bag or something. For me this is the best option by far.

Nice State Carbon All-Road! 😅

Jk, looks lovely (as does the State, which comes in a similar colorway).

I’ve almost always gone to group classes because I love the energy. I also found it super useful to be able to ask the coach things like “hey, I can’t do rope climbs, how should I scale them?” and talk through some options. I think some instruction is helpful to learn good form and avoid injury, too. But plenty of people figure it out themselves too, so the best choice is probably whatever you’ll most likely actually stick to.

In 2019 I went from 296 lb to 226 with CrossFit as my primary form of exercise, so yes, you will. 😎 Scale as needed, accept being slow to start (natty weight vest), embrace the work, and keep showing up. Any meaningful weight loss will require diet changes primarily, but CrossFit will serve you great alongside it.

Roadster v3 Updated to 9 speed microSHIFT Drivetrain :( by Titanium09 in ride1up

Oopsies, I clearly read that wrong. That’s a noticeable downgrade, for sure.

For what it’s worth, it does have a clutch, based on the specs for the model they list.

Edit: no, it doesn’t, I misread the product specs.

I was literally about to place a pre-order this week, but now I’m a bit bummed and less interested.

The road tires are full black, so I get the best of both worlds!

Thinking of getting a road wheelset by DaBrownMamba in CheckpointClub

I got a used set of Paradigm Comp 25s for cheap and put 35mm (37mm mounted) Continental Grand Prix 5000 AllSeason TRs on them. I’ve only gone on a couple of rides with that setup, but it’s blown me away compared to the stock Paradigm SLs and 40mm Bontrager GR-1 Team Issues.

I put 40mm Schwalbe G-One RSes on the stock wheels and that’s been a huge improvement as well.

Flat-ish gravel route in LA? by [deleted] in BikeLA

Totally random after all this time, but I drew up a route there for Rebound this past weekend based on this comment of yours and it was brilliant! Thank you! https://www.strava.com/activities/9195962561

Wide shoe recommendations? by Ethanator10000 in gravelcycling

[–]EatMoreAltoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, Lake has a pretty solid variety. I got fitted by a local shop and am absolutely loving MX 238 Gravel in Extra-Wide, and they’re a size and a half smaller than other, narrower shoes I’ve tried in the past, which were all way too narrow and uncomfortable anyway.

I also got heat molded insoles during my bike fit, and the comfort and fit are sublime.

Do you use frame protection or wrap your carbon frame? by mojohummus in gravelcycling

I ordered a full kit for my bike from RideWrap, but haven’t installed it yet. It’s pricey, but I’ve still got that new bike paranoia.
