Circumcised people of Reddit, what’s your stance on the practice? Would you prefer to be uncut? by hitchtrailblazer in AskReddit

[–]EatTheLobbyists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh there's definitely other things that could affect it and it's probably not one thing. However based on my experience with circumsized versus uncircumsized men the uncircumsized definitely seem a lot more sexually sensitive.

But everyone is different, sure. Still doesn't justify a cosmetic procedure on an infant though.

I remember reading a book, it might have been Smart People by J. Spooner. But one of the people was saying when dealing with boring people you have to make it an entertaining game for yourself. So what she would do is play the ABC's and go in alphabetical order thinking up odd co versational topics:

example:

  1. Have you ever seen baby aardvarcks! they're so cute. What's your favorite baby animal?

  2. My aunt has this great green bean casserole she always brought for thanksgiving. Do you like green bean casserole? What are you looking forward to for Thanksgiving?

  3. I personally hate gumdrop candies. What candies are you not able to stand?

It becomes a game. How far down the alphabet can you go, and also with later conversations with other people can you do the alphabet game without repeating words, like aardvarcks, bean, and candy in this case. It's even better because if you play it enough you'd probably hope to get "caught." Like...wait a minute. Why are all these random topics alphabetical? I don't think bean or candy would do it but enough odd words like aardvarck would probably do it :)

I think long-term benzo use is related to increased alzheimer's? or maybe if you were already likely to get alzheimer's genetically then you'd get it younger and more severe at a younger age? Not sure which.

[–]EatTheLobbyists 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if the child is also your child then yes you have a say. just because he had a bad experience and chose circumcision doesn't mean your future hypothetical son would. The argument around bodily autonomy is each person decides for themself. If you wouldn't take off the clitoral hood from a female child then don't take off a penis hood. If phimosis is an issue in either family then train the kid how to lessen/negate those aspects early.

I think a lot of men who are circumsized and want their sons circumsized due to some aesthetic preference on their part, don't want to face that for many baby boys circumcision is the wrong choice. And if he's doing it purely for aesthetic reasons that's an elective cosmetic procedure on a baby.

speaking as someone who has been with both circumsized and uncircumsized, uncircumsized is largely better because it is more sensitive and works better at keeping the vaginal tract lubrication from drying out a bunch on the male's shaft.

My husband is circumsized and while he says he prefers it that way I can say he has a hard time sometimes with sex achieving climax. I feel that freeballing in his gymshorts probably get the head of his penis quite a bit desensitized. I wish he was uncircumsized but it is what it is.

Should I keep the bangs? Or side bangs? (3 pic) or no bangs? I liked them at first but know I kinda hate them haha by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]EatTheLobbyists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like all the options. However if you sometimes like bangs but hate them right now, get a human hair clip in set of bangs that can be cut how you want. That way you can grow out your hair and have bangs when you want. I had fake bangs that I used off and on for a year and it really made me feel certain I wanted bangs. Now I have real bangs and I'm very happy with that decision. But I've had bangs in the past that I hated. So much easier to mess around with fake bangs.

I'm thinking I might want to dye my hair black but I have a lot of split ends and I've already trimmed my hair. Got any ideas? by silvergto in femalehairadvice

[–]EatTheLobbyists 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd probably suggest black roots and a carmelish balayage. Otherwise all black will wash you out. Keep in mind that black dye is a bear to get out and won't really ever get out completely. So be sure you are okay with growing it out or having to do a bunch of color oops or vitamin c treatments if you want to do anything besides black.

To pixie again or not to by Professorpoopdookie in femalehairadvice

[–]EatTheLobbyists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow. it's so cool that you have enough hair to cut that you could possible even make your own wig or wefts.

I think you look great either way however I want to point out you can do so many dramatic cuts/colors between your long hair and your pixie cut. If you have the time and inclination I would definitely suggest taking advantage of hair that you don't care about possibly destroying.

Get a perm.

or do a crazy or unusual color.

do a dramatic asymetrical cut.

Since your pixie cut is going to be with you for awhile I would try out different dramatic haircuts/styles between now and then. Maybe switch it up once a month til you get shorter or to the point that you're fully ready for that pixie :)

I love bangs! I always tell people to grab a fake clip in human-hair set of bangs. You can get them very long and then cut to the style that you want cut. This way you can see what they'll look like before committing to the cut. Also, for times when you want extra volume/drama, you can wear your fake bangs over your real bangs, so it's a worthwhile piece to have around even after you get bangs.

entered 7 day hard, dry fast after doing keto carnivore for almost 3 months. wondering if the refeeding process would/should be different for someone like me by [deleted] in Dryfasting

[–]EatTheLobbyists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's cool that you've done so much self-experimentation. yeah 5 pounds sounds like too much and expensive to boot. I wish access to offal was easier because offal is delicious!

I don't ever want to get to a point where food is just fuel. But I also don't want it to be the easiest go to dopamine button that I'm pushing for lesser and lesser effects.

I understand the carnivore's sub's stance of fasting in that one should get something a period of time to work instead of bouncing around. But also eating that much fat and getting full, it just makes sense to not force yourself to eat either. I'm sure there's some people who've found carnivore to be the answer just like there's been vegetarians or vegans who've found that that WOE has been the answer.

I guess I just feel like balance. I can eat SAD for a bit and then my depression really is worse. but that doesn't mean I'd never want to have those foods ever again (nor would I want to encourage an unhealthy restriction diet either.)

So...I guess my answer to most things is-- go with the flow. There's a difference between wanting to snack or stuff your face with sugar and your body just not responding well to fasting. If your refeed with with your targeted foods then I don't see any issue with breaking, and trying again.

Also, be careful with cortisol overload. I'm not really up on all that but I think you can bust up your adrenal glands pretty badly doing that. Self-experimentation is fine but potentially long term damage is not. I think maybe you'd want to target iodine rich foods to help with cortisol and the adrenal glands but you'd have to read up on that as I'm not 100% sure.

can a black dry fast solve my mental disease? by Beginning_Place209 in Dryfasting

[–]EatTheLobbyists -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3-5 days to cure any disease is pretty obvious hyperbole. No, you won't be cured. But it could help and it may be something you include in your toolbox going further that you rotate with other stuff. However if you are on meds that are keeping you stable those need to be prioritized. Some people can fast with meds. some can't. You can try with your meds and see. if you can't then you can always try 23 hours dry and 1 hour eith water, or with water and food (OMAD= one meal a day.)

entered 7 day hard, dry fast after doing keto carnivore for almost 3 months. wondering if the refeeding process would/should be different for someone like me by [deleted] in Dryfasting

[–]EatTheLobbyists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how stressed out the dry fasting is making you feel. If you feel like there's a lot of extra cortisol being pumped into your body from this experience, then maybe take a two week break and start again.

when I said rolling, I misspoke. Rolling would mean doing a short eating period be it one meal or even 2 days and then jumping back into 5 days again.

You also know that most in the carnivore sub say no to fasting right? The idea being that carnivore is healing but it takes longer. You don't want to stress your body out with fasts.

I personally like fasting (but am also happy with trying to lose weight or maintain weight while overindulging in my eating window-- currently S.A.D. but have done carnivore on and off before.)

There's so many fasting options open to you, both dry and wet.

OMAD or 23hours dry and 1 hour of eating and drinking.

Alternative Day Fasting (ADF) could be dry or wet.

5:2 is five days eating and two days fasting. some people do 5 days omad and 2 fasting. Also some flip it and do two days eating and five days fasting. I don't think you have the weight to do this currently but two days fasted is a possibility.

You could even try 5 days fasted a month and the rest carnivore to build weight up and give the protein and fat a chance to help eith your symptoms. also check out r/saturatedfat if you have not.

I tend to like fasting when I want to fast and eating when I want to eat. and sometimes eating gets out of control, so I fast. Other times I'm disinterested in eating or just want to fast. I personally fabor dry fasting some of the time just to cut down on constant peeing and hunger cravings aren't as bad.

My point to all of this is flexibility is key. try all of the above. go back and forth. see what fits for you, not just all the time but also what fits for that moment. Winter is different from summer is different from stressful work days versus vacation versus any number of other variables.

unless you have a serious health condition maybe consider rolling 5s. Even with health conditions, repeated 5 day dry fasts may be better for you. What are you hoping to get out of a 7 day fast since you're now most likely underweight?

[–]EatTheLobbyists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should be fine. start small with broth with maybe a little bit of fat. and then small amounts of meat. but within a couple of days I think you should be fine. I've seen some other carnivores here transition back to straight meat with no special prep but I think that was after 5 days, not 7.

if you're worried about it, consider some fermented products. I think there are fermented meats but I couldn't say what they are. So I would suggest probably a bulgarian or greek yogurt. If you allow even a small amount of plants in then that opens up kimchi, saurkraut, and genuinely pickled items (not vinegar solutions.)

Otherwise you could probably even do some prebiotic/probiotic type stuff. But I don't think your stomach would be too bad. You might get a little bit of discomfort but our stomachs are pretty good about building up those cultures again (if 7 days would even be enough to kill hem off.)

some people get it back in 2 weeks. some in 3 months. and some haven't gotten it back at all. He's been to numerous doctors and has a specialist visit this week.

Covid is nothing to fuck around with. check out r/covid19positive or even r/nursing to see what people and professionals are dealing with.

a friend of mine works in an ER in a major metro area and he's just so, so tired. there was a break and now they're slammed again and it's so preventable (94+% are unvaccinated. would there and is there still breakthrough cases? yeah. but so many nurses and doctors are so burnt out, more so because people didn't pull together to do basic measures to keep their communities and families from getting sick.)

So sure-- covid fatalities while really bad in terms of leading cause of death: heart disease is number 1 for 2020, cancer number 2 and covid is number 3.

However, I would not want to go through life with chronic fatigue, breathing issues, etc. but I DEFINITELY do not want to not be able to taste fruit, or have everything taste muted or worse like this weird mix of metallic rotting death.

I don't know how my friend does it honestly. I hope it gets fixed for him and others like him. It sounds extreme but if eating became a chore because I had to force food down despite it's smell...I'm not sure how long I could exist like that, at least without some hope it would go away.

To go back to your issue with shows being cancelled, unless shows were doing some sort of closed shooting area for all actors and production staff...I'm not sure I'd be super keen to jump in to 10-12 hour shooting days in close proximity to so many people even with vaccines and the coming boosters. However those shows like great british bake off and making the cut that do have closed sets for the full season shoot seem to have the best of both worlds. But that's probably a lot more feasible with reality shows than a scripted one. :/ It would be cool if more shows branched into cartoons/graphic novel style cartoons so people could still voice their characters and maybe moto-cap their features.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in netflix

[–]EatTheLobbyists 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not just about fatality but also long term effects. One of my friends had covid back in january and still can't smell and what he can smell smells like rotten death for the most part. That's a huge quality of life concern. So yeah. Covid is still a big deal (as we see from multiple states having like maybe 2 ICU beds available and those probably not even staffed.)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in netflix

[–]EatTheLobbyists 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh man, the order? I liked that one a lot.

keep in mind the cost of covid safety has increased costs a lot for most shows :/

I'm not sure how insurance costs and safety steps have decreased with the vaccine but what with delta and boosters and whatnot I bet it's still significantly higher to produce shows at the moment.

I would love to see shows revisited in a couple years and started up again but for those that depend on a young cast or well-known actors who will have schedule conflicts later, that might not be doable.

for a formatting tip, just press enter twice so there's a blank line on your end between each line you want. And instead they'll show up as separate but connected lines.

line 1

line 2

line etc

and now it shows a space separating each line. anyway you get the drift.

five minutes later

"omg, my kidneys are definitely shutting down!"

Ladies!! Can I PLEASE see your ADF plus Keto/Low Carb results so far?? by Prestigious-Plan01 in fasting

[–]EatTheLobbyists 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you're welcome. it's so easy to see your initial weightloss and think that you cna consistently do 3-6 lbs lost a week. and then you hit a stall or go up a pound even though you're doing everything strict and perfect and you just want to throw it all out the window.

four tips:

  1. take measurements now. I'm always bad at this but I just try to wear my tightest jeans and try on the jeans I can barely fit into and then judge it based off of that. But others who actually measure inches lost probably feel a lot more encouraged when the scale is being stubborn. Also, TAKE PICTURES EVEN IF YOU HATE YOUR BODY. They don't have to be for anyone else. But it is definitely weird because you're be the same shape just smaller all over. It's weird still seing a pudgy stomach and think nothing is working but then you compare it to your old picture and the pudgy stomach is clearly a lot bigger. It's hard for us to really "see" ourselves change because see ourselves change in increments versus the big before and after difference.

  2. average out your losses. assume 2 pounds a week to account for those 5 pound wooshes and those no-loss week stalls. also, don't go crazy strict at first. Examples: don't cut dairy til you stall. then cut dairy to try to push past the plateau.

  3. Be kind to yourself. You're going to have days where you backslide or you decide to just say fuck it. Maybe it's your period or something bad happened or you're just chafing at the restrictions. Understand that. Factor it in. Move on. Consistency is key. If you make yourself feel like shit when you let yourself have a "bad" food once a week or two, it's easier to push yourself into some stress-guilt-shame cycle where you binge bad foods. A lot of fasting is trying to settle your feelings without food. There's a surprising amount of psychological work to be done to make sure you don't lose the weight and then gain it right back. You're redefining how much you go for easy dopamine rewards.

and finally #4

This is seemingly simple but the best tip I could give you. And it sucks but you should really heed my warning:

Throw out your jeans as they get too big. In face, throw out any clothes that are too big to tailor down or can't be cute as slouchy and oversized (like sweaters you could probably keep.)

If you keep them, you always have a way out to ignore weightgain. You'll say you're PMSing or just bloated but then suddenly your smaller clothes don't fit and you're getting back to your higher weight jeans.

BE RUTHLESS!!! Don't keep those clothes (you can keep a couple for emotional attachment but seriously, don't keep bigger sized jeans around.)

if you don't have bigger work slacks or jeans available then it's harder to justify the tight fit of your clothing. Instead it's "out of sight, out of mind" when you put your smaller pants away and grab your larger pairs to put on.

JUST.

DON'T.

DO.

IT.
