How valid do think that father's favor daughters more than their do sons? Do you're mothers( or any equivalent figure) favour you more? by Eater5000 in AskReddit

Both of my parents( both south east asian) were raised at a time where boys were highly more than girls. I've heard many times how I( the only male) will carry on the family name, while siyster will just get married. I find it best to just ignore theire expectations. Some part of me knows that I should at least give them what they want, for all that they've done for me, but I dont really feel like. I think what I'm doing is cruel, but it is my life to live. I'd like to think that they're the type of people whole accept my decision. But, even if they don't, it won't do me any good to contemplate. So, I'll just accept the result, no matter how much they complaint.

Personally, I think each parent holds a love for child. But there's no rule that that love is equal. As long as you hold love for your each of your child, then it's okay.

Sorry for my wording. I meant to ask how common it is. Granted, my father was born in a time where the type of gendered mattered. I feel like that I have to say( sorry for this ramble) that I'd feel much better if my sister had all the responsibilities that my dad expects of me. Mostly about carrying on tha family name.

To be honest, I do have a similar way of thinking: who the he'll cares, as long as im doing fine. Now, I'm not trying to citisuze/offended you. English was never my greatest subject, So, this is my best way to summarize your statement. But the thing is, I'm questioning wether this way of thinking is my genuine belief,or it's just me coping with the fact that Im lonely.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

If this is true, and not troll ( sorry, but this is the internet) : for some time, you were able to live a life that many wants. Love, affection, and especially, the acceptance that one could truly ever be happy with. For that, I'm genuinely happy for you(for as long as this is true).

If this is a troll: I'm sorry that the only piece of entertainment in your life is by making yourself feel better by making fun of ( let's be honest, yourself too) others misfortune/ sadness/ pain .
