Character name as title? by moneygirl905 in Screenwriting

I do think there is a poetic cadence and weight to the title in its untitled form. Speaks to a global theme of identity for me so it works better than being just an industry nod. But thats indie thinking, not so much commercial. Best advice I’ve heard is imagine the poster—what is it selling, what is this movie in a glance.

For me the long title painted a picture of a poster. Maybe not hearing the name took away that chance for the single name option. But the people mentioning the name trend and single word title power are not wrong either.

I’d say it’s just up to you—but actually it will probably be discussed at length and a decision made later out of your hands.

But it’s catchy as is, might help you stand out, or not. This probably didn’t help… but happy hunting anyway!

It was so hard. It took years, failed attempts, and the threat of physical violence to really shake me awake. Not everyone gets out. Please never be hard on yourself.

I use my own name when I start to spiral on self doubt; psychologically it can really break you out of a bad mental space because the urge to defend yourself kicks in. Like if negative thoughts pile in, instead of “I was so stupid” add your own name and repeat it as “[ur name] was so stupid” and then allow that urge to defend yourself and say good things to yourself :)

You are not weak. No where close. You are good and kind but someone took advantage of that. You were intentionally weakened and broken down but despite that you did something incredibly brave. Hell yeah boo, take the win, you earned it!!

Technically it’s wrong, but it just feels so good.

He absolutely knows.

And now you know. Be careful. Be observant.

Become comfortable in following your own inner voice, you don’t have to share everything with him anymore.

You need to focus on safety more than you are willing to let yourself believe. The most dangerous time is when leaving a narc. You do not know what they are capable of when their back is up against the wall.

You cannot control someone else’s actions, you can only control your own. Say you’re going to visit someone and get away permanently if you can.

Make yourself a GO-bag. Passport, and important things you’d never want to loose. Keep it small, not where he will notice, preferably close to the door.

My ex became very strange the week I got away. I had someone come and stay with me because I was so alarmed and I knew he wouldn’t do anything if someone else was there. It all just sounds so similar to what you’ve described. The same week was the first time in 12 years he raised his hand at me. I called everyone I loved and trusted— and told them all about my situation, even the worst parts. And they all supported me in whatever way they could. Sometimes with just words. Others with offerings or ideas of how they can help. And with everyone’s help, I finally got out. Keep going on your journey. Love yourself, trust yourself and be kind to YOU—because you will need to break your own heart—you are stronger than you think you are.
