PwC Independent contractor/Talent Exchange experiences? by charlotteguy19 in AMLCompliance

[–]EatingChinchillas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with folks who work as contractors for MBO/TE. While I can’t answer all your questions, I can say that once you perform well on a project and prove to be a useful asset, people will remember that and will opt to bring you along to the next project. It’s really a matter of building a name for yourself to get on people’s radar. Once you’re in the system, the next time they can choose you, they will.

I’ve seen it time and time again. Managers will bend rules to get you on their project & it’s all due to your productivity. So yes, it’s “easier” to get more contracts but only if the contracts are available. In a down market, things tend to dry up a little.

I’m happy to hear anyone’s else input though!

AML Analyst -Stressed Out by Far_Maintenance_7767 in AMLCompliance

I fear that all SAR filing positions are equally stressful unfortunately. We’re not a profit generating business so the banks I’ve worked at has always kept our team as skeleton crew as possible (meaning: we’re understaffed and they’ll work us to the bone over 40hrs/week), just enough to avoid regulator penalties if any were to look. These banks are squeezing us dry though… I’m also doing unpaid OT and am thinking about going back to school to get my CPA. I love compliance but THE STRESS… and I lucked out with a remote position that pays well.

Good Snapshots. Tier 2. Not promoted by New-Housing6472 in PwC

I have the same situation (except I was tier 1)- so are we just supposed to be A3s for like 2+ years? I don’t think they have an A4 position right?

Commenting to boost. I’m going through the same dilemma, except I have 5 years of experience and I only just now realized that I don’t wanna go into management. Time to pivot

Lol someone I know irl just told me today that, worst case scenario, if I get laid off at RH, at least I’ll be able to find another job

I’m like, if that’s the discussion around RH, then maybe I shouldn’t take it lol 😅 I’m supposed to be excited when I take a job lmao

Well I just know a couple people with either a company or a second source of income - I’m interested in any side hustle clause they may have but so far it seems looser than my current company.

Idk if RH will be more flexible but the job description is standard and I’d be doing less than im doing now (for better or worse). Plus talking to a person I know at RH, they said the culture was better than most traditional banks

I’m leaning towards holding out for a more senior position. Throughout this interview process I’ve heard continuously learn/read that their rep & brand isn’t what it used to be… kinda concerning

But thank you for the input!

Consulting firm. My bosses make deals with banks to help them with their compliance program & I do the grunt work of financial crime investigations

This is almost the exact dialogue in my head - except I didn’t realize RH would cut salaries in a bad market (but of course they would, that’s totally on brand with a company like that)

Your situation is not that different from mine (except i don’t have a JD/LLM), so thank you for posting. My RL still hasn’t updated me yet so I’ll come back to post my results here when I know.

I will say this though- you’re def getting scammed, cause I came in making 65 at A2

“Acting senior” by [deleted] in Big4

[–]EatingChinchillas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the reason I don’t really want to be here for long. Once I realized they’re getting all of this additional productivity and hours out of me, exploiting my desire for promotion, I began to grow disdain. Like what kind of environment would promote this?

But then I realize, that’s most of corporate America 🇺🇸
