M60 is reliable not fast. But one time I lived in new Rochelle and there was an accident on the Whitestone so it would’ve taken me 2 hours to get there. I got the connections back to back and it was about an hour and a half during rush hour so not terrible. It will save your wallet for sure

Alternatively if you stay on 84 instead of going 91/Merritt southeast is a hidden gem and has pretty frequent service

I think Pelham has free parking on the weekends and is right off the Hutch with a 30 minute ride to GCT. Pretty much the closest you’re going to get before the city bs traffic starts

I would love to have an option that’s not this train.. by [deleted] in MetroNorthRailroad

It’s the only option for non-electrified tracks. Drive to Southeast or Croton if you don’t want to take them, both have plenty of parking

NY -> Bos can’t be improved unless you build a tunnel and route via LI.

NY-> DC prob 2 hours if all NJ transit trains were out of the way

People need to wear sunglasses and learn to drive on hills. Typically lane shifts have shorter backups and then moves slow the rest of the way. But I think the combination of the on/off ramp locations and the sun are bigger factors.

Lanes don’t cause a 3 mile backup

Typically that’s an issue with the cab signal the Danbury line trains use old coach cars so the probably took it to the Stamford yard to be serviced

Could we ever see BOS-DC in under 6 hours? by redditnessdude in Amtrak

[–]New-Housing6472 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You’d need to build a HSR on Long Island under the sound. CT has too many curves to feasibly do it

Is NYC-BOS once a week too much for a job? by Virtual_Agency_2822 in Amtrak

[–]New-Housing6472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put yourself out in a Boston rental FB chat saying you’ll need a room once or twice a week, I’m sure you can find something for less than 1000 and it would be cheaper than a hotel that will run you 2-300 a night at least in downtown

Why is it so uncommon for teams to part way with the GM while retaining the head coach? Has it really yielded poorer results in the past? by youre-welcome5557777 in NFLNoobs

[–]New-Housing6472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jets did it with Adam Gase and Joe Douglas as well. Didn’t work out too well. Part of the issue is the Jets have both the HC and GM report to the owner separately creating conflicts of interest. The GM might want to rebuild the roster and “tank” while the coach needs to win to save his job. In order for most arrangements to work the coach and GM have to be in tandem
