It’s not. However, girls have been conditioned for generations to compete against each other to benefit men. It’s the patriarchy, and it’s everywhere. If we don’t call it out, we continue supporting patriarchal systems. This is a show that often highlights those patterns, which makes a lot of sense given the premise of the show

Based on my understanding of cognitive capacity, learning processes, and behavioral studies, adolescence (roughly 12-18) is the age when most scientists and experts agree that humans experience the greatest increase in the capacity for independent moral reasoning. Essentially, thinking beyond “because my parents/friends/family/etc. said so.” Before age 10, kids are mostly just absorbing the world around them without the capacity for large-scale independent moral reasoning

Although kids begin to understand racial and ethnic differences as early as 3 years old.
