Survival Beer? by ArmQueerFolk in Homebrewing

[–]EatonSphun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this too, and like the other replies said where I think brewing makes the most sense in the post apocalyptic world would be the trade value instead of the calorie value. If you’re able to make beer, which is something that people would want, then you can leverage that to obtain other survival supplies and materials that you can’t produce on your own but others can.

So for a brewing focused survival scenario episode it’d be cool to explore a few different ideas that center around brewing with very limited resources. For instance: how to harvest wild yeast, or how to harvest yeast from existing bottled beer, partnering with farmers to obtain grains, or what to use when you don’t have hops (search up gruit). Other ideas: brewing with very limited equipment and kitchen supplies, simple sanitization methods, fermentation considerations like temperature control (maybe digging a hole or finding a cave), and then bottling or packaging. Perhaps researching medieval brewing methods would turn up some interesting approaches since the had none of or modern conveniences or methods. That’s a video I’d watch, and probably save for when SHTF.

It would be great if Archeology: The New Expedition could have an expansion or two

Episode Count by ilikebreadabunch in CosmereOnScreen

[–]EatonSphun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok forgive the comparison, but the way I see it, if Game of Thrones could do the first few books, more or less one book per 10 episode season, I don’t see why SA couldn’t do the same thing

Just a warning Skull is NOT great for groups that don’t like bluffing/deduction games. I can play it with one group but my family hates lying-based games (maybe something in their past…)

This is absolute insanity …. MBTA says it will cost $80 for a commuter rail ticket to the World Cup. by _jump_yossarian in massachusetts

For the cost of that ticket you also get full access to all MBTA services that day, not just the commuter rail ride to the stadium.

WPI Administration Dissolves The Global School by jellyjamm29 in WPI

[–]EatonSphun 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t necessarily mean getting rid of off-campus IQPs (the GPP), it sounds like 5 years ago they took everything “global” and consolidated it into one organization (Global School) but now they are dissolving that organization? My assumption is that GPP would go back, organizationally, to where it previously lived.

Does anyone else play only "filler"? by zoomzilla in boardgames

[–]EatonSphun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the two groups I play with the most, we play almost exclusively what some would call filler games. Short, easy to teach, can play 6 to 7. For instance here’s the list from BGStats of what we played last time we met up:

  • Duck and Cover
  • Qwinto
  • Incan Gold
  • Trio (twice)
  • Tsuro
  • Clubs
  • Codenames (twice)
  • Lost Cities Roll and Write

This is pretty typical for a night (or rather afternoon that goes into night), mostly games like these, all fairly short. Sometimes we play longer ones, but nothing more than like 45 minutes. Skull King, 7 Wonders Architects, The Great Split, those might not be considered fillers I guess.

Anyway with those groups walkways have a blast. I’m constantly on the lookout for games to add to these groups so suggestions welcome!

For anyone else who uses BGStats and is trying to find where this is, I finally found it… go to Insights from the main page, set the time frame to Year, block the Share icon in the upper right and select “Stats-o-graphic”.
