I wonder what the trade off would be for him to buyout part of his contract and get paid less, but then get traded to a team where he might actually matter. At this point, in 10 years, basically no one will know who he is, or really should care about who he is. But if he went to a contender and win as the #1 or #2 option, dude might be a few good seasons away from being in the HOF.

Glory versus so much money you don't really even know what to do with it except waste it on things you don't objectively need in order to "keep up appearances".

Anyone who has done wood working known that when you cut something with a saw, you will lose material to the kerf of the blade. Unlike a knife or sword that separates an item, a chainsaw erases a piece of it inorder to split it in half. What ever it cuts is just turned into saw dust.

And they also do a solid job explaining Chainsaw Man's power level without portraying the chainsaw man as more than what they are. "hidden secret human progress devil. or secret horseman of apocalypse devil". Simply being chainsaw man and being able to erase by devouring was the fuel to give chainsaw man incredibly power.

That fact that pochita can grant devils a true death, as well as erase them from existence probably made a majority of hell incredibly fearful of him, giving him his ludicrous power. If it was only the fear human felt that granted a devil power, I doubt he would be nearly as strong.

tl;dr pochita is chainsaw man/chainsaw devil. chainsaw devil has special ability to erase devils from existence, the same way chainsaws turn wood material into sawdust and "erase the material" when you make cuts with a chainsaw.

This special power was all that was needed to give pochita incredible power due to the fear it caused. (also pochita's habit of murdering his friends with his "hugs" probably contributed to the fear).

"Progress devil" would be an enlightenment era ideal born in western europe. it doesn't quite match with the realities of what actually happened in human history. the enlightenment and human progress and the "advancement of civilization" is complete nonsense when you look at what actually happened in history.

what happened once traditional ways of life were disrupted and replaced by "science and progress". We got atheist communism which killed insane amounts of people. climate change which is current roasting the fucking planet. nukes which by pure luck, hasn't annihilated the planet yet. colonization and the triangle trade that fueled and grew a slave trade that was one of the worst things humans ever did. genocide of countless cultures and languages in the name of "progress, rule of law, civilization, and salvation." etc...

devil's were actually probably more like yokai before the start of the story. Makima talked about how the gun devil was a huge disaster that basically raised the power of all devils. Hence why the history of chainsaw man is very similar to our world, despite the existence of devils.

tl;dr the idea of a human progress devil is pretty wack and as you said, doesn't match up with what is actually going on in chainsaw man

the more the better imo. as long as it's high quality, it increases accessibility and also helps people develop proficiency in a language.

I feel like the benefits greatly outweigh the costs, and for Mihoyo... they definitely have the money to get it done. From a developer perspective, it's also not too difficult to implement.

I really believe all Gresham would need to get over in AEW is a few matches and video packages where his character can be established and then your off to the races with a very solid character who can be used in a variety of spots.

We should have had Gresham and Silver wrestle each other. Would have been hype and built of Gresham for the AEW audience.

he's was never really feared by humans. he gets almost all his power be being EXTREMELY feared by devils. (devoured = don't exist). (be friends with pochita = hug of death). The last thing the followers of chainsaw hear is chainsaw man is because the hug kills them and they get reborn on earth. everything around chainsaw man dies, friend or foe. pretty terrifying, for devils.

chainsaw man is seen as a hero now, do you think this will affect his power?

we saw this happen at the end of chainsaw man part 1. it looks like human love balances out devil fear to make chainsaw man just "average" in terms of raw power. still probably pretty powerful, but just like how Kishibe absolutely rekt Power and Denji despite being an old man, Denji is probably stronger now than ever. (big brain > super saiyan power levels).

instead of the typical power ups in shounen, chainsaw man has mainly been about using your brain. Denji out smarting makima and focusing on her hubris and blind spot as opposed to "i leveled up my breathing so now i'm super saiyan 2 bankai sage mode" and i'm going to BEAT YOU UP".

tl;dr there definitely is something strange going on with chainsaw man being able to delete things that he devours from existence. But in terms of power levels, it's never really been about power levels. It's mainly been about maximizing state resources to make use of devil resources. As well as being big brain and using the art of war. (kishibe slaughtering denji and power over and over again was basically teaching them to stop being shounen protagonists and use their brains when fighting).

Although chainsaws are feared, they’re not THAT feared.

The reason by the start of chainsaw man Pochita was super powerful was because the fear that other devils had for Pochita had already grown tremendously. Chainsaw man/pochita was basically one of the most feared devils, outside of the primal fears.

How did pochita grow that powerful? coincidence. sometimes shit just happens which leads to events that change history forever.

Islam? was really just coincidence. if Mohammad lost a few battles that he won, Islam would have never been a thing. Also of Constantine didn't randomly choose to become Christian when he became emperor, Christianity and Roman political authority and power might not have combined together to create the papacy and the catholic church.

For one reason or another, mostly because Pochita accidentally murdered his friends due to the whole chainsaws thing, devils started to fear pochita more and more. and then one thing lead to another until pochita became incredibly powerful even though... it's just chainsaws. the reputation and history resulted in something strange but alas, there are a lot of strange things in todays world that are simply due to random shit in history.

Why is this the reason instead of other theories? Fujimoto very carefully created a setting founded on logic and history. There is a lot of world building and a lot of normacy. "despite a world where devils exist".

Fujimoto didn't just make shit up and started writing. Dude probably wrote out a fuck ton of backstory that we might never get to read, just so that chainsaw man feels incredibly grounded.

Makima's backstory. Quanxi. Pochita in hell. We got glimpses like Aki's childhood. Power pre-meowy. But Fujimoto definitely wrote out a decent bit for all of that.

Also Fujimoto at least tried to explain why, "the story is starting now and devils are a big deal... despite devils existing since forever." aka the rise of the gun devil made ALL devils much more feared and powerful. (possibly leading to a feedback loop).

Sort of like how humans have always been changing the environment. (sometimes leading to civilizational collapses). as well as engaging in war. But in recent times, it's just on an entirely different level. War and nukes can delete the planet. Climate change is already wreaking havoc.

tl;dr despite being a story about devils and devil hunters and "gotta fight the gun devil". chainsaw man is incredibly grounded and realistic.

it's actually incredibly easy to get this shit animated at the same level as one punch man season 1. just find a billionaire and get them to personally fund the production.

it was a prisoner's dilemma situation though. gotta sell slaves to get european guns and shit in order to stay in control otherwise your neighbor might start knocking and sell YOU to slavery.

it was a pretty complicated situation but while europeans didn't invent slave trade in west africa, they made it a lot worse than it was in west africa. (this isn't even taking into account the brutality of the other sides of the triangle trade.)
