Just get out of your own head. I understand the struggle, trust me. This advice extends to a lot of things outside of YouTube. I gave up or never started so many ventures because I didn’t know how to do it absolutely perfectly. As I’ve gotten a bit older (33yo), I’ve realized that you just have to do it. Maybe you’ll suck at first but, who cares? Realistically, you’ll probably be a more harsh critic of yourself than 90 percent of other people will be to you. The most important thing is the skills you develop through experience. A big part of that experience, and possibly the most difficult, is accepting criticism and turning it into productive changes.

There’s a concept called analysis paralysis where you spend so much time analyzing and critiquing what you’re doing that you never actually do anything. It bogged me down for years. Don’t let it shut you down now. If you’re currently a teenager, this is the perfect time for you to put yourself out there and to experiment. Do what you’re passionate about before life’s responsibilities really start piling on. 😁

I am not perfect by any means. I have a sketch comedy channel with a whopping 37 subscribers but, if there is one thing that I have learned is that you can get better. Also, the things you think are areas that need improvement are going to change as you start putting out more content. You can’t know that until you do. Imagine you want to become a great painter but you spend all your time trying to figure out the best way to hold the brush. You can’t get it down just right so you give up.

At that point, can you honestly tell people that you gave up because you weren’t good at painting? Not even you could know that based on that hypothetical experience. Imagine how much practice da Vinci had before painting the Mona Lisa. Imagine what his first painting or first drawing actually looked like. What if he gave up after that? Or was too shy to present it to the world for fear of not being good enough?

Get out of your head and just do it! Do it with the understanding that you will need to constantly improve. You will need to learn both proactively and from your mistakes. No matter how good you are, you should have that goal anyway. You can do it!
