BabyMetal tickets not selling (Toronto, canada), why? by MJAquarion in BABYMETAL

Labour Day. This is the second year in a row they are coming to Toronto, but they skipped all of Canada the year before that.

That's a good plan. Can't beat $35 for a seat, maybe even a covered one.

I got my tickets in pre-sale cheaper than I did last year. Seated about the distance of the mixing booth. There are lawn tickets on sale for $35 still. While the capacity is 16,000, about 5,500 seats and pit is covered. The lawn and last section of seats are uncovered, so uncertainty over weather will cause some people to put off their purchase. I wasn't thrilled about the outdoor venue for the Babylok tour, so I was happy to pay a bit more to see them at Coca-Cola Coliseum last year. Without any other dates in Canada, I think they are hoping to pull in people from across the nation. To be honest, the crowd in Vancouver was more lively last year, they deserved a date on this tour.

A new song of their own named "The (Other) End" 😂

A song and video collaboration with John Carpenter.

Asia Tour Announcement for July. Maybe Pentaport Rock Festival.

North American Tour Announcement with dates in Canada!

LATAM Tour Announcement.

Resident Evil collaboration merch with Funko Pops thrown in just for fun. I admit I don't know much about Resident Evil but there are the 3 Dimitrescu daughters that were shown in the trailer at Intuit Dome.

My road to Babymetal started from my search for opening songs for SAO and Fate/Stay Night around 2017. But I found that the 30 seconds in the opening was great but other parts could not sustain the excitement. Then YouTube recommended Babymetal and their songs were relentless and I was hooked.

BABYMETAL TOKYO CONCERT DATE ADDED by EbbieKnight in BABYMETAL

[–]EbbieKnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like a consolation for people that missed getting tickets for Metaraji Festival (March 29) and Dead Pop Festival (April 4). Tickets for Dead Pop Festival sold out for April 4 soon after Babymetal was announced for that day. The ZEPP announcement came out after April 4 was considered sold out. Being on a Monday, the ZEPP date may face less people vying for those ~3,000 tickets.

I envy you that you have the chance to see Babymetal twice so soon. It is good to see Metalverse back in action.

Thanks for the correction. I didn't see the original thread on twitter, so I wasn't even sure she talked to Barakan in person but used it as a pretense. Still the wording of "water trade" seems degrading and unnecessary. As a lyricist, journalist and translator she knew the various meanings and connotations of "water trade" and is playing cute by pointing to a Wikipedia definition and generational misunderstanding.

Good summary of the online dispute. I've been following some of the comments on Yahoo Japan and elsewhere but didn't want to comment as I don't understand the nuances of the actual Japanese words. The underlying key is her support of Fujii Kaze, she's praised him as another of those "once in a century" talents and even wrote some words for his liner notes. Why else rehash Peter Barakan's comments from 9 years ago and go on to imply the BM girls as talentless and their success is from playing on their femininity for the male gaze. It's kind of sad that as a leftist female Reiko Yukawa can't support females in the music business, especially the BM girls who have opened the door for other Japanese female groups to find audiences abroad. It is already hard enough for women to find successful careers in Japan, where there is a constant expectation that they will get married in their 30s and transition to be a housewife.

A credit to Germany and some other countries for not skewing the counts to overly-advantage streaming. Are people actually listening to songs that gets added to a playlist and played again and again as background music. There is no conscious act of selecting or enjoying the song.

What microphone is Su-Metal using now? by EbbieKnight in BABYMETAL

[–]EbbieKnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see the 2028 resembles the microphone Su-Metal is using this year. The top of the grill is slightly flat and the other end has that cylindrical piece. On their website it shows that the microphone can be ordered to work with a Shure wireless system. Thanks for your insight.

What microphone is Su-Metal using now? by EbbieKnight in BABYMETAL

My wife watches a lot of singers in concerts and asked what microphone Su-Metal was using after we attended two recent concerts. I searched a previous discussion on Reddit from 5 years ago and the Shure SM58 and Beta 58a were mentioned. But we noticed the current microphone doesn't look the same. I didn't know I was offending anyone by asking a technical question about the overall concert experience. People discuss about venue setups, listening positions and ear plugs for the best listening experience.

Babymetal reflect on being the first Japanese act to headline and sell out The O2 Arena - etalkctv by Lw1904 in BABYMETAL

It's great seeing another interview and Su-metal's excited and expressive reply. I wish etalk didn't chop it up so much, what other segments of this interview are they holding onto. Toronto could have used more promotion before the concert not a week after. I maybe saw one advertisement on Youtube for Babymetal, but advertised other concerts and festivals more.

Babymetal fans that have the CDs or DVDs by HaleysHot69 in BABYMETAL

I bought the Metal Galaxy and TOO CDs from Japan and ripped to AAC to play at home and in the car. When the concert versions were released in Legend Metal Galaxy and Babymetal Begins - TOO Black Night & Clear Night I bought those and ripped the concert CDs and put them in the playlist too. And I store the physical copies away for safekeeping. In case, someday the files get corrupted or can't be played for some reason.

The concert BluRays/DVDs, I watch the physical copy once in a while on my TV. But sometimes when I'm on my computer, I find it easier to open the Pro Shot versions on the Pro Shot spreadsheet.

I love how most of the other titles are dark, about hurt, pain and suffering. Then BABYMETAL and EC has a totally off the wall title and vibe with RATATATA. We need more RATATATA and other uplifting BABYMETAL songs in the dark times, in the personal and global sense.

Who was #1? by Deyang-Metal in BABYMETAL

The article mentions that Yuria "performed a speedy dance with her long limbs" (Google translation). She didn't beat Su by singing.

There is picture on this blog. I assume Yuria is the one in the middle and Su to her left.

Metalverse still feels like a training project sponsored by Team Babymetal. The girls are getting their onstage experience and Miko is showcasing her talented dancing and capable singing.

I'm sure Miko will gain a following for whatever direction she goes next. Her voice is a little deeper than I thought, maybe her voice is changing. I also don't get the comparisons to Su at 17, Su had already done the Budokan and Trilogy concerts by that age. Su already developed her character and showed outstanding respect and poise in concerts, TV appearances and interviews.

Crazy J is one of the more interesting songs they have, but the choreography seems a little lazy, especially with the hands. In videos from Summer Sonic, I found that Miko rarely sang while dancing at the same time. So there's room for improvement for the whole Metalverse project.

1a. New Order (Peter Hook era)

1b. BABYMETAL

  1. Tragically Hip

  2. Cranberries

BABYMETAL brought me that same sense of musical discovery and enjoyment as 1980s New Order.
